Simon D (gb) wrote: a drugs film with a few famous faces playing roles that could have ended their careers. The direction was inventive and a little twisted, I mean who thought up showing us Mena Suvari dropping her shopping and Debbie Harry as a butch curtain twitcher battering a hispanic youth in a supermarket? It's an entertaining film but not one that I can really relate to.

Ian C (ca) wrote: A solid biopic. Beatty is great as the Las Vegas visionary, Bening is so sexy as the local bike Virginia Hill but, for me, Ben Kingsley excels as Meyer Lansky. Although it is quiet stylish, a film about the building of Vegas and Murder Inc should have been a lot more gritty and violent.

Jenna I (br) wrote: A very sober follow up to Thunderball, You Only Live Twice shines best in its theme song and it's basically downhill from there. I admit I had a hard time staying concentrated on this one, a whole lot of talk and not enough action. It wasn't bad, but it felt like it would have been more exciting had I never heard of anything Japanese and this was my first exposure to the culture or something. It had that weird touristy vibe, like it was banking hardcore on people being really fascinated by Japan (in lieu of the whole space rocket plot!!![????]) to make up for the mish-mash plot. I will say, at least for a 60s movie it stars actual Japanese people, shock and awe.
