James O (ag) wrote: Coogan and in particular Dench are superb in an even paced human story of a film. Not wildly exciting or original but a decent enough film.

Rory D (it) wrote: A little too much what-the-fuck-ery to attain true "so bad it's good" greatness.

Matthew C (kr) wrote: First Class is a smart move that Matthew Vaughn directed becuase, after Last Stand and Origins, X-Men could go downhill but this movie redeemed it quite nicely. With an awesome younger cast such as James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawerence and Nicholas Hault. Not the best but still very good movie and one of the better reboots in a superhero movie

Thomas W (au) wrote: Increible! Me encanto. Una historia apasionante, llena de suspenso, intrigas e hipocresias que ponen al espectador con los pelos de punta, los ojos cuadrados y la boca abierta. Ademas, unas actuaciones espectaculares, y una super produccion orgullosamente francesa.

Jonny P (au) wrote: "Toys" is truly one of the worst movies I've ever seen, from its lifeless character to the Gettysburg Address/"I have a (Barbie) dream-house" war speech. This long-winded approach to telling a short (uninteresting) story is painful in spite of its amazing artistic vision. It is hard to imagine a movie this bad receiving Oscar nominations, but it is even harder to believe that it may have actually deserved the nomination for Best Art Direction! The film places an inherently stupid story and overacted characters amidst a creative-looking toy factory and a vividly colorful landscape. You'd expect powerful performances with names like Robin Wright Penn, Joan Cusack, Michael Gambon, Jamie Foxx, and LL Cool Jay (why not?) on the list but they are all awful. I never imagined that Robin Williams could be so unfunny and unlikeable without it being intentional. The worst part is that they all seem to think that they are contributing to a legitimate film. I'd blame the editors but they must have known what they were getting into when they read this script. Beyond the actors, I don't think that any audience watching a PG-13 movie is dumb enough to accept this as entertainment. Is this supposed to be a comedy or... ? They even had to Insert of a random music video because there isn't anything interesting about the transparent plot. They probably thought that the 15-minute long toy battle sequence would be the big payoff but instead, it is unbearably long. Outside of the cheesy slow-motion effects, the film hasn't aged well with a factory full of toys that most kids have never seen in the iPad age. They did somehow manage to unintentionally predict drone warfare. "Toys" is a horrible film but if you can't tell that from the cheesy Christmas opening sequence, you might actually enjoy parts of this movie. But I doubt it so don't bother. What a waste of a triumphant Hans Zimmer score.

Bernie M (ru) wrote: About as good as the other two sequels. The series was good in that the first was fantastic, and the rest maintained a good solid quality. This movie lacked a good villain, but made up for it with lots of action. Watch the whole series, classic movies.

Steve W (ca) wrote: Encounters of the Spooky Kind is a unique mix of breath-taking martial arts action sequences and a supernatural ghost plot. The movie is a little slow to get started but it really picks up when it gets into the second act. The movie is able to find a nice balance between action, horror, and drama, and the fight choreography is still amazing to this day, especially the restaurant sequences and the finale. This movie is a lot of fun, and perhaps has one of the greatest endings ever.

Steven M (au) wrote: At times resoundingly beautiful, but in conclusion feels more like a didactic, simple tale of a family finding themselves when they weren't lost in the first place.

John C (br) wrote: This was probably not the best movie to watch for the first time on the little screen of an iPhone but the Horror Stories podcast on iTunes was nice enough to give me the opportunity to see this Corman remake. At a run-time of 80 minutes, the basic story is Zontar, an alien from Venus, has come to Earth with a plan of world conquest. With the aid of a scientist he gets far, he gets to hitch a ride to Earth, land, finds his headquarter location (in a cave because it matches Venus' climate) and has mind controlled key members of the government, before events happen that cause the scientist to wise up and turn on Zontar, attempting to destroy him. Like most 60's horror films, cheesy acting, mediocre effects and the typical winged bat looking alien make it a bad movie by today's standards, but it had a few things that kept me watching, from a somewhat large amount of murder scenes, husband/wife and friend/friend betrayals, and appropriate danger music. I give this movie 5/10 because it does not have any one thing that makes it stand out over other films, no single great performance, effect or anything, and in the last 20 minutes or so you already know the outcome of the film so reluctantly have to watch it unfold just to say you did.

Lanfranco C (us) wrote: Particular crime-western movie with a good and not exagerated anti racial moral

Dirck d (de) wrote: A little tedious, a little grainy, and somewhat less gripping than "Invasion of the Body Snatchers", which similarly rips off Heinlein's "Puppet Masters". Some fun moments, and Nimoy gets to be non-stuffy.

Michael F (gb) wrote: One of the greatest horror movies ever! way better than any modern horror movies

Marc J (au) wrote: Despite the dated special effects, and too many cuts back to the past, there is something special about this movie's tale of inspiration and redemption. Suspend your disbelief, just go with it, you'll be left with a marvelously good feeling in your heart at the end.

Joe B (us) wrote: What an interesting film -- and one with a storied past. Paramount shelved it for over 10 years! It's not great by any stretch of the imagination...but it's got a message/metaphor for society that's pretty strong.
