The concert bits are cool, when you know that you are watching a concert. It took me three or four full songs into to realize that I was not watching a film that had a plot or anything other than a concert to pay attention to. WITH that knowledge, this is a fan-flipping-tastic concert film. It feels like being at a concert as much as it can while sitting at one's desk, and I bet it was mind blowing watching it in the theatre. Whatever you do, DO NOT WATCH THIS unless you mean to watch a really well shot and professionally produced Metallica concert.

(it) wrote: Monsturd is nearly what you think it is,with hearty use of corn.....This movie is foul and deserves a place in every horror addicts collection. The Dialogue is weak, the gags are late forties quality at best and the cinematography is borderline AV club. I love this film for it's pure abhorrent quality. This is truly a shitty film deserving of a power-flush to your DVD.

(nl) wrote: Long winded by the most forgiving of standards, Stevie could have benefited greatly with a healthy dose of editing. There are some terrifically awkward moments, beautifully bizarre glimpses of the ultimately forgetful lives of a handful of people who are a far more prominent part of our society than most would like to believe. The big brother aspect is merely a jumping off point for the ultimate subject of this endeavor, impoverished American whites (Or poor, white trash, if you really want to go there. And yes, I just did). There are far better documentaries covering that topic, one of the most recent being The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia.Stevie isn't the least bit likable, even without the criminal charges that weigh so heavily throughout most of the film. Neither is filmmaker Steve James, who usually comes across as so bland and unemotional that Stevie's incessantly over-the-top antics are an almost welcome relief by comparison. I found myself caring more about the relatives and associates of the principals, though not so much that it helped to justify the film's near two and a half hour length. Nor did the exploitative freakshow vibe that I got from most of the Chicago scenes, when Stevie tours the big city, accompanied by his mentally handicapped fiance and her handicapped High School chum. It's a mess. A sometimes entertaining though rarely engaging mess that's just too long in the tooth. Ironic, considering how desperately in need of dental work so many of the participants are. Recommended but for a single viewing only, so pay attention as you won't likely sit through this baby again.

(it) wrote: Starring Susan Hayward. Unrelentingly bleak dramatization of the then-controversial case of Barbara Graham -- a woman of loose morals convicted of and then executed for a murder she may not have committed. Hayward won a deserved Oscar for her sympathetic, if fictionalized, portrayal of the woman the press called 'Bloody Babs'. A jazzy score takes all of the proceedings to a fever pitch, aided by superb cinematography and the fine direction of Robert Wise.

(nl) wrote: Yes, the film is riveting with racist and sexist execution of scenes, but it is based on a book in 1860's America. Most people who lived in the south believed their fight was the right fight. It wasn't a time of sunshine and rainbows for America. It still isn't. Minorities still suffer through injustice and we still have people defend racism and sexism. This film is a cinematic masterpiece however due to its amazing story of a struggling woman getting on her own two feet and doing it any way she possibly can to save the only thing that matters to her, Tara. It's a story that captures the willingness of its time and the amazing work to create a masterpiece of a film with its splendid cinematography and amazing acting. Its entirety is a tactful work of both Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh's acting skills. If I have anything truly negative is that Ashley's character is such an a**hole. His character is so repulsive to have lead a girl on like that while being in love with Meli is so repulsive. I believe it may be the purpose for him as Clark's antagonist. The costumes and sets were beautiful. One of the best scenes is that crane shot of the many bodies outside the hospital as Scarlet walks around looking for a doctor in mid square. Beauty of a scene and the creation of a Pan-Out shot. Hence, the film is not perfect but it is really a classic. You may not appreciate it the first few times, but after a few watches you understand its splendor and authenticity and it enter your heart.
