Andrey B (ru) wrote: Very beautiful film with its riveting cinematography of ocean and the island. With no less beautiful lead actors, Fassbender and Vikander. And the story is very powerful and touching even though maybe at times it is not plausible. But still everything about this movie is beautiful.

I grew up in Barcelona, where everyone speaks Spanish and nobody Catalan, but all I can speak is English so I can't understand anything they tell me.. Well, except for the key people, they all like to speak English, even when talking among themselves. My brother (who probably is the only actor capable of canveying a semblance of emotion) is a priest, and our dying father is a priest, only that none of us knows what fictional denomination of christians it may be, because sure as hell it isn't a real one.I'm an IMF agent fot the occult, and I have been Activated... And I believe this easily, even though I'm a full-on Atheist, only because everyday has an 11:11 (not in the one at the a.m., mind you, the one at NIGHT!!!!) - by the way, is it 11:11 ET or Barcelona time? Some cardboard and plastic mask men have been giving me cheap jump scares for a couple of days.I know I can't suspect my brother, but I'm not in the audience, you know? They seem to have figured him out very early, but me? I have to worry about the jump-scare-guys, who're making this movie look like a carnival's hounted house. Then Bousman gets to the last scenes, and applies the "Saw montage", where he explains what was obvious troughout the movie, and closes this turd in the stupidest way he could have thought.Really. Is THAT bad.

Darrin C (ca) wrote: This was the closest thing I got to a true rendition of The Punisher. Bloody violence and an okay story despite ripping off Tim Burton's Batman from 1989 (you'll see). Kinda cheap villains by the way.

Matt B (gb) wrote: Gothika is genuinely chilling but ultimately too silly for me to recommend. Would the psychiatric ward really take in their own psychologist if she was accused of murdering her husband? If the ghost is good, why is she slamming Halle Berry against the walls? Also, why does the ghost blow fire out of her hands? This is all very entertaining, nonetheless, but it's just too flawed.

Jiri B (gb) wrote: Great special effects, predictable and formula film.

Richard D (de) wrote: Here's why adapting really short bits of writing into feature films is fraught with difficulty. Allen's short piece "Death" is a funny little parody of Kafka. It would also only account for about 15 minutes of screen time. Adapting it for the screen 20 years later, Allen pads out the material with tons of references to other films, genres and filmmakers. The result is an uneven and slow hodgepodge of material that wears out it's welcome before the first act is over.
