Lightning Over Water

Director 'Nicholas Ray' is eager to complete a final film before his imminent death from cancer. Wim Wenders is working on his own film Hammett (1983) in Hollywood, but flies to New York to help Ray realize his final wish. Ray's original intent is to make a fiction film about a dying painter who sails to China to find a cure for his disease. He and Wenders discuss this idea, but it is obviously unrealistic given Ray's state of health.

Ryan W (br) wrote: It sure is a rare treat when a sequel out ranks the original, way higher budget and awesome special effects for its time. The story progresses as more interesting and the humour between little John Connor and the Terminator is wonderful! It's a film that has everything a viewer could possibly want in a film, action, suspense, humour, great plot and great acting!

Aaron B (nl) wrote: Not a great movie due to cheezy fight scenes, but I really like it.

Whit w (nl) wrote: This movie was a staple of sorts on HBO during the mid-80s. A recent viewing revealed confusion of what could possibly explain its continued cult popularity. There's the possibility that those who rave about it now are falling victim to an overwhelming sense of nostalgia. It could be the terrible reproduction of '80s hits that make up the movie's score, some are into that sort of thing. It could be the crappy zombie makeup or the rebirth of a teenage crush on Catherine Mary Stewart. Whatever the reason, credit can't be given to this being clever or tongue-in-cheek because the dialogue is so pathetic and the characters are really annoying. This is one of the most dated examples of '80s cinema. If you're into that...enjoy.

Marko Z (br) wrote: It's blasphemy to talk crap about this movie. Blasphemy!

Trouble B (ca) wrote: Oh god everything about it is a terrible bombardment of badly-done cliches.
