Ian F (es) wrote: What is he REALLY trying to say?The scene where Rock Hudson explains to Doris Day why he can't get married to a woman is hilarious, as are many other similar instances (two men alone in the woods... hmm...), however, for a totally different reason than originally intended. The problem then with these films, while good none the less, is that they are quite dated; fashion isn't just clothes. The style, the type of film, the moral- it seems so out of date, so 1950s, so pre-femminism. The argument that if you sleep with a woman and make a baby means she's yours forever, or that women can't be career women without being bitches is so old school. So while enjoyable, it's partly because it stands and says something completely different since Hudson came out, and once you strip that away, all you are left with is something that is old and dated.
