Thomas D (ru) wrote: Tripping the Rift: The Movie (2007)I had never really seen too much of the show, but i decided to watch Tripping the Rift: The Movie anyway. It turned out to be ridiculously stupid, funny and entertaining. It's all about the main character, the shallow captain Chode McBlob who goes on all kinds of crazy, quirky missions to different planets with his rag-tag crew to help, aid and assist other crazy aliens and things. The story obviously takes place in the far future and is similar to 'Futurama' in many aspects. Chode is just a foul mouthed, sex crazed idiot who is planning a huge birthday blow-out bash when it is not even his birthday! The movie spoofs and parodies many sci-fi classics like Star Wars and Star Trek and Terminator etc. It's fun to watch just to see all of the references and hidden stuff. The cgi actually wasn't too bad. It isn't as prestine as say Finding Nemo or Monsters Inc. but it manages. Overall: Tripping the Rift was a fun late night watch, but it's short running time and crammed together scenarios make it a bit annoying at times, but the continuous comedy, fart and dick jokes and big, cgi tits tend to pick up the slack of the out of control, retarded storyline. Plus it's based off of the TV show. It's always hard to cram in everything necessary to make a good movie out of a TV show, just look at the 'Simpsons Movie' :(
David C (ru) wrote: this movie amazed me it keep me thinking all night, so much that i couldnt sleep. thats why it is in my top five movies of all time. shia did an amzing job and tatum as well he reminded me as young marlon brando but more hardcore, i thought that monty the father was played perfectly. i felt so bad for the relationship of dito and his father. it was so sad and real. it was the kind of movie every great writter trys to write and this writter did it perfectly.i think what made it feel so raw and real was becuase it was a tru story. i thought that at some points they were make it to much like a art film, it works and i loved it but i thought that if it was more contempary and natural it would have felt more real. i thought that rosario dawson did a horriable job with a shitty queens accent and the girl who played a younger her out acted her. robert downey jr was ok nothing as special as shia or tatum. i cant state enough how real this movie is it touched upon real emotions and real life with the realtionship of dito and his father. i loved this movie and if it was more well known theres not a doubt that it would be a classic.

One can't help wonder if the writers took help (or at least inspiration) from Old Bill Shakespeare, because his spirit is all over this one. However, Shakespeare or not - this is a rather ordinary story, though well played by the actors. I was happy to see that the ending wasn't all roses, but rather more fitting to the rest of the story. The scenery is almost a classic in this type of movie. A comment made by the characters in the movie made me think about the choice of year; 1958. This was the year when the fins on the cars were as big as they got. This was the year when the American car became an icon. And the cars I'm referring to were a rather noticeable prop in this movie.3 stars out of 5

Jaime L (ru) wrote: Does what sequels have a tendency to do unfortunately, goes bigger and louder and thinks that makes a better film. If done right possibly but this was not done right at all. I suppose if you want something in the background that you can pretty much ignore it will be fine but my brain simply couldn't tolerate unending action sequences that simply got boring after awhile. Explosions and gunfire simply isn't enough. First Blood Part II was where this franchise should have stopped.
