Tyler R (fr) wrote: This movie was awful. Looked like it was made years ago and had a awful script and terrible acting. The plot went no where and made no sense.

Patrick C (ru) wrote: Not as bad as one would think. Low budget with plenty of shaky camera work and a story that gets a little out of control, but competently acted and keeps within itself. By that I mean that the director and producers know they are low budget and do not attempt to try anything beyond their means.

Dj N (ru) wrote: Alone With Her (The Unrated DVD) Running Time: 81 minutesTagline: Anytime Anywhere He's watching. The Main Players: Colin Hanks (Doug), Ana Claudia Talancon (Amy), and Jordana Spiro (Jen).Directed by: Eric Nicholas. The Basic Story: A "reality"-style thriller, Alone With Her is an assembly of raw hidden-camera footage showing the stalking and manipulation over several months of the beautiful Amy (Ana Claudia Talancon), a young working woman with aspirations of showcasing her sketches and paintings, by the seemingly decent-yet-disturbed Doug, an awkward young man who is unable to understand or connect with women. Doug (Colin Hanks), a serial voyeur, likes to walk around town and secretly videotape women with a camera hidden in his tote bag. When he spies Amy playing with her dog in the local park, he immediately falls in love with her and concocts ways of running into her around town. When the opportunity presents itself, Doug enters Amy's apartment and sets up several hidden cameras in order to watch her every move from the safety of the computer in his own apartment. As his obsession with Amy grows, he uses the information he learns from watching the hidden cameras to manipulate Amy. Doug strips Amy of everything in her life -- her feeling of security, her job, and her friendship with her best friend Jen -- and then swoops in to seemingly help her out and save the day. Will Amy finally see through Doug's devious efforts to manipulate her before it is too late? What makes Alone With Her good: The piecing together of what looks like hidden-camera footage to create the story makes even the innocent events feel creepier. The footage could have felt gratuitous, but never strays from feeling believable, and the low-key performances by Hanks and Talancon add to that realism. According to director Eric Nicholas, many of the events in the movie were based on real footage from a stalking case that he came across in his research. What keeps Alone With Her from being great: Alone With Her's greatest strength is also it's greatest weakness. The fly-on-the-wall approach never allows the viewer to truly connect with the characters like they would have in a movie with a more traditional narrative approach. Truly great Hollywood thrillers have those great over-the-top WTF moments, something that Alone With Her is lacking.DVD Extras and Special Features: The Unrated version of the movie comes with Commentary from writer/director Eric Nicholas, deleted scenes, an alternate ending, and a short video containing facts on stalking (no, seriously) for that added Afterschool Special vibe. The Final Verdict: This is not a typical big-budget Hollywood thriller with a traditional narrative. If you are looking for a change-of-pace thriller with a slow build-up, then give Alone With Her a chance.2 1/2 stars out of 5

Adam P (gb) wrote: Okay, this movie made me cry. Sure it just throws sentiment in your face willy-ass-nilly and the heartstrings rarely get a break. But Spencer Tracy, and especially Mickey Rooney, were great to watch and it made for another great classic feel-good evening.

Cody M (it) wrote: It sets out to do exactly what it's meant to do with the feel good charm, despite its occasional corniness.

Shane D (nl) wrote: Aside from the obvious reasons, there's very little of value here. Where it's at it's most interesting is when shining a light on the seedy/addictive side of the industry - eg. The Wrestler for male strippers.

John D (us) wrote: Really lame dialogue and acting. No doubt, the biblical story has great potential - regrettably squandered on this effort. On the bright side, set and costumes were well done.

Michael C (au) wrote: Maybe the perfect movie, cast, dialog and story with brutal street violence. Love Clarence and Alabama. So many of the people in this movie are now stars.
