Although there are original aspects to the story, this is a predictable and underdeveloped tale with inelegant animation. The voice work is not impressive for any of the actors, except possibly Wallace Shawn, who just has such an interesting voice anyway. The jokes were not clever and the story was bland in its denouement. Having thoroughly bored me within the first 30 minutes, the 87-minute run time seemed overly long.

Noname (es) wrote: Movies based from videogames usually ends up really bad but somtime they can be watchable. I have played both Max Payne games and enjoyed them very much. This movie are a good attempt to catch the feeling from them and Mark Wahlberg have done a good job as Max. It could have been better in some parts but overall for being a videogame based flick its certainly worth a closer look.

Lesley N (us) wrote: Not so much a documentary (though its filmed like one) but a drama showing how Melvin Van Peebles' "Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song." got made, despite the lack of money, support, technical expertise, social climate, etc etc. Directed by and staring his son Mario Van Peebles, who does an amazing job of conveying the complexity, charm and take-no-prisoners attitude of his dad, and a feeling of what it was like to be there in that time in that place. And Mario should know, since he was hauled in act in the most controversal scene in the entire film. Before watching this, I though it was going to be heavy viewing, but instead it turned out to be thoroughly entertaining, made with a light hand and an easy wit and a lot of humour in it. Go, son, go.

Erin D (br) wrote: i thought this was very good. it's interesting to me how compelling a story about not much but following someone around for a few days can be. she's nearly destitute and so angry about it, yet the cinema verite shows us how it would be, as a quiet introverted girl compelled to be alone.

Byron B (mx) wrote: Contains plenty of tension. Gere is a nasty S.O.B. corrupt cop. Garcia is relentless in pursuing the source of the corruption, officer Peck, through the Internal Affairs Department. A young Nancy Travis plays Garcia's wife. I really liked Laurie Metcalf's performance as a no nonsense female cop, who is Garcia's senior partner in IA. It is not often that a character like her's is portrayed in a macho cop thriller.

Noname (kr) wrote: Now this was a nice comedy movie in my taste. Its a well made one with a solid story and im glad to see Paul Rudd back with a superb performance and he should always be at this level. I haven't seen many movies before with Jason Segal and he stood probably for the best "funny" scenes in this hilarious flick. Its a comedy with "quality" level in my opinion and i actually enjoyed it alot more than the popular "Hangover". This is a movie you should definitely keep an extra eye on if you haven't seen it yet.

Hugely compelling, energetic, fascinating and sympathetic. Though it has its problems (the bad guys are never real, just sneering villains, the final court scene is very Hollywood, and some sequences are very clumsily chopped down for time) they didn't really bother me too much in the end.
David S (kr) wrote: Maybe they didn't see Fred Ward as an action/adventure star and that's why Remo Williams was never well heard of. He wasn't the Harrison Ford of the early 80's as they probably hoped for. But really, the movie works on various levels; it's action packed, thrilling, funny. Ward does pretty well as the action hero. And Chiun was downright awesome. Some of the movie is cheesy and poorly-acted, but there's a lot of really funny moments and exciting action that makes Remo Williams a hidden gem for people interested in early 80's action movies.
