David E (jp) wrote: The film feels too familiar and lacks substance and individuality.

Tim W (au) wrote: I liked it almost as much as I didn't. It was fun-ish in parts (from a kids POV), but other parts were head-shaking sighs. A lot of it felt wrong like story and characters and it lacked emotion. Coupe likeable moments, couple funny moments even.

Allan C (fr) wrote: Decent little sequel to the underrated Pumpkinhead. I've long been a defender of the original film, which was produced and directed by special effects wizard, Stan Winston. This sequel lack's Winston's atmosphere and craftsmanship, but Phumpkinhead is still a pretty cool looking monster and I'm a sucker for practical special effects, so I quite enjoyed this fmaiillar tale of teen resurrecting the titular demon, who then goes on a bloody rampage. Underrated horror director Jeff Burr helmed the film, which also stars Andrew Robinson, Ami Dolenz, Linnea Quigley, Kane Hodder, and Punky Brewster herself, Soleil Moon Frye. Oh, and as a promotional gimmick, you have Roger Clinton (Bill's brother and Hilary's brother-in-law) playing Mayor Bubba. I didn't actually recognize clinton when I was watching the film, but when he first came onscreen, I was kind of baffled why the filmmakers though it would be good to cast a mullet headed, Billy Ray Cyrus-looking schlub as the mayor. Now I know why.

Steve G (br) wrote: This movie is well done but as the description says it is a "docu-drama" and definitely not an action film. There are no depictions of battle. The film follows the strategies and decisions of Admiral William F. Halsey after he took over command of the South Pacific Forces when it was looking like the Japanese would prevail at Guadalcanal. It is strange at some points watching the Admiral sweat out his decisions as he waits for news from the battle front. I enjoyed the movie because of the insight it gave into the Navy's point of view at Guadalcanal. I watched "The Pacific" last year which detailed some of the Marines' experiences there and I caught some of the common references like "Washing Machine Charlie" the Japanese pilot whose nighttime attacks were meant more as a method of preventing sleep than to amass casualties.

Jamie J (gb) wrote: Continuing my foray into the DC animated universe we have Batman: Bad Blood, a film which centres upon Bruce's home for lonely children and their quest to find the titular Batman after he is missing, presumed dead.Despite the daft premise, and the fact that I'm not really sold on the whole "Bat family" thing (Nightwing, Robin, Batwoman, and Batwing all together) Bad blood is probably one of the more entertaining animated DC films I've seen so far. More consistent and certainly better animated than The Killing Joke and quite well thought out. Bad Blood actually has quite a good air of mystery about it. After all Batman can't really be dead. Can he?It's a shame though that due to the films quick pace and short running time a lot of the bat families motivations and stories are glossed over, especially Night wing, who has to don the spare Bat Cape himself. More focus is given to Damian Wayne's Robin. Who simply comes off as an entitled brat. Hopefully the next Batman film I see will actually be about him. For what it's worth though Bad Blood is still a really enjoyable, albeit brief ride through a different take on Gotham city.
