I think Merlin wins for the worse acting ever!!! The others follow close behind. Who ever cast this film should render their salary back to the crew, because they did the best job I'm sure. Costume and Production design is pretty good. Oh!! The horses were great!! Really Sad. I mean the actor who plays Merlin has played in some pretty good shows and probably did well, I guess his terrible acting in THIS inferior piece of work could be blamed on the Director and Producers. I must add that I rarely write such bad reviews of film/TV because I feel everything is a work of labor & few people can pull off anything, but this is ridiculous, everything about this production is pathetic, not campy, but truly lame. I want to know WHO were the people making this?

Michael G (ru) wrote: This movie was quite good. Though I will have to admit it was lacking in anything I was hoping it would have.I was hoping for ingenuity against the Germans, I was hoping for Extremely long range shots bu the super marksman and most of all, I was hoping for more action. This movie was very good and had many morally sound points, including the bit saying, no matter what side you are on, you are all just humans, one in the same. Like The song Godspeed by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus says."And in his pocket there I saw a picture of his children and his familyAnd I began to realize this person I despised in actualityWas not much different from myselfWe prob'ly could have taught each other many things"Though it was very sad that everyone else dies in the movie. A few of the characters I quite liked and was disappointed when they got killed.I recommend this film, but with the disclaimer that is is not an action film, but more a film about brotherhood and loyalty. Friendship and compassion.

Gritty, raw, exciting action film that packs a wallop: Vietnam veteran takes on entire military police force almost immediately after returning home. Bitingly intrusive--and the action never flags. Followed by three sequels.

Later, what is initially thought to be a snake invading their paradise turns out to be the body of a fallen soldier. It is 1933 and Japan has invaded Manchuria which Professor Yagihara(Denjiro Okochi) opposes. His subsequent firing sparks protests not only on campus in Kyoto, but also nationwide. Trying to stay out of the fray, his daughter Yukie(Setsuko Hara) is torn between two fellow students, Noge(Susumu Fujita), leader of the student movement, and Itokawa(Akitake Kono). The protests are quickly crushed by authorities, sending Noge to jail while Itokawa becomes a prosecutor. Inspired by real events, "No Regrets for Our Youth" is an inversion of the basic war propaganda movie, advising the populace to not follow the mob but to take a firm stand for what it believes in. Along these same lines, Japan during World War II is portrayed as not being as fanatical as it had been elsewhere. I was pleased to see that peace movements are timeless and universal but also distressed that so is red baiting. As political as this movie is, it is first and foremost a compelling story of personal discovery with a rare female protagonist from Akira Kurosawa that does admittedly drag a little in the middle.
