Love and Death

Set in 19th-century Russia, Allen is a cowardly serf drafted into the Napoleonic war, who would rather write poetry and obsess over his beautiful but pretentious cousin. Allen's cowardice serves him well when he hides in a cannon and is shot into a tent of French soldiers, making him a national hero. A hilarious parody of Russian literature, Love and Death is a must-see for fans of Allen's films.

Filippo V (kr) wrote: One of the best movie I've ever seen in my entire life, It's smart, sharp and original, with a brilliant script and a perfect casting. It tells a very simple story filled with philosophical and social themes, which don't make this movie just a simple comedy, but a satirical view of the modern society. Alan Arkin gives us an outstanding performance and all other actors are truly perfect for the character they play. I could't think of a flaw about this film, it's perfect in every little aspect of it.
