Tim S (nl) wrote: Zardoz is one seriously deranged movie. Like another science fiction film 2001: A Space Odyssey, it forges its own path and tries to do something very different. When you have a giant floating stone head, Sean Connery in a large red diaper, and everyone else practically naked, you've got a genuine recipe for weird. The film was directed by John Boorman, mostly known for Deliverance and Excalibur, but in between, he directed this cooky little movie. Not a lot of the movie makes sense for most of its running time and you're always behind in trying to figure out exactly what's going on and requires you to see multiple times to get it. With enough visual imagery to drive a crazy person sane, the movie excels at being memorable. That is, once you've seen it, you'll never forget it. It's beautiful and unsettling.

Bill W (it) wrote: SPOILERThere is a planet in the sun's orbit that shares the orbit with our Earth but it is always on the opposite side of the sun so we don't know about it. An astronaut goes on a space mission and arrives on that planet. Everything on that planet is exactly as it is on this planet except it is the mirror image of it. Eventually that all gets revealed to the viewer then everything gets reset and the movie ends.

Alex G (br) wrote: Good acting, good story, and an interesting climax that I didn't see coming. The only things I didn't really care for it were it's lack of energy in certain scenes and it seemed to function more like a play than a movie. There were a lot of talky scenes and the visual moments were few and far between. The opening sequence depicting what happened to the Armstrongs I thought was well done. As far as thrillers/whodunnits go, this is a pretty good one, though not exceptional by any means.
