It was cast perfectly and the story line was executed with perfection!! I would not catagorize it as Horror at all, but as a Black Comedy it was excellent!
(nl) wrote: It's honestly hilarious, but in a good way! The action is just outrageous. It's truly great stuff for this genre.
(ca) wrote: Not nearly half as bad as more than half the people on this website agree, and liked by less than half half as well as it deserves.

(us) wrote: An intelligent and funny action movie surprisingly packed with existential angst. Great cast...Danny DeVito as a cartoon cat, Ian McKellen as Death, Charles Dance as the "bad guy"...and Arnold being Arnold being Arnold (no typo).

(ca) wrote: This is an interesting film, part comedy, part social depicton of a family living in a slum in roma during the 70's! It's quite dry & bleak but somehow it's catchy and entertaining! It's a film from an other era that's for sure, when families where big & life was not turning around social recognition or facebook to say the least! It was a time of toughness & economic harship for italy and maybe for Europe in General. This film has a radical view point & is in complete osmosis with it's subject! It's a gritty & dirty film, filled with incredible chracters & too many truth about what the future holds for these unfortunate kids growing in such a bad environement! Wait for the last shot, when the image freezes, you will understand all the bitterness this film holds under the appearance of a dark comedy!

(ag) wrote: Despite the fact that the two characters seem to fall in love in such an abrupt way, this is still an involving silky melodrama whose appeal is not hard to understand, especially taking into account the impressive social criticism that made it so ahead of its time.
