I don't mind Wire-Fu but it shouldn't be in every move of every fight scene and actions need to be done with some realistic force. If someone is kicked a far distance, don't they should fly really fast and make a loud crash. When it came to landing hits and having things break, Wu Dang sounded quite tame. There was no base, no thud. Nothing sounded like it hit with any kind of impact. The story itself is ok and allows for the setting up of all the multitude and variety of fight sequences but when the fights aren't strong enough to carry the film, even a light love story isn't going to save things.Great set pieces and costuming help along with some interesting though slightly out of place FX sequences but Wu Dang ultimately fails to deliver the impact necessary.

David Duchovny and Michelle Forbes play a couple of bored pseudo-intellectuals on a road trip for Duchovny to research for a book on serial killers. They post an ad for passengers to share with the gas and driving but end up with a very real and non-sensational killer as their passenger, played by Brad Pitt, along with his simple girlfriend, Juliette Lewis. Duchovny and Forbes, with an air of superiority, dismiss them as a couple of rubes but gradually learn how dangerous their passengers are. While a lesser film would have been content let Pitt and Lewis simpley be a couple of scary "Deliverance" style rednecks, this film given the pair real depth, which elevates this film above a simple road movie thriller. Still, the film is not quite as intellectual as it thinks and really does cover a lot of the same group as some better films, like "Badlands" or "Straw Dogs." I remember watching this film when it first came out and thought director Dominic Sena was going to be a talent to watch, but sadly he seems content o be directing Jerry Bruckheimer/Joel Silver nonsense instead. And on a geeky side note, it's also fun to see Michelle Forbes in a very different of role, after seeing her more recently as the very memorable Admiral Cain on "Battlestar Galactica."

(fr) wrote: This movie is insane! Everything you wanna see in a action movie... 2Omins of dialog so you know the basic story and the rest just watching people get there asses kicked!!! Best Kung fu/action movie I seem in ages!!!
(fr) wrote: Somehow this has garnered half decent reviews. I'm not one of those. Completely disorganized movie. Starts off as a supernatural/faith despite trials thing, and morphs into a creature feature. Good actors, terrible script. Predictable ending as well.
