(de) wrote: Really nice little film this, I loved the brevity and simplicity of the plot. The poor young mother of two and her desperate struggle for survival on the streets. Yes there are a few scenes that make you wince, but plenty that make you smile and nothing that makes you think you are wasting your time. The last credits show that this is based on a true story and that in itself makes this film very special. The fact that someone can go from such humble beginnings to a real success story is an incredible achievement and should be a moral to everyone.I like watching films like this as much if not more than the big blockbusters. They are true to life and offer to me more than the big budget special effects which I think I am growing tired of in my old age.

(au) wrote: This is my all-time favorite film with Argentine tango. It shows tango as it is really danced -- not the tango fantasia which we saw too much of in Sally Potter's film Tango Lesson. I loved the embrace which Patrick Chesnais had with Anne Consigny.

(kr) wrote: Distantly devoted to the film, Monroe's "Novocane in her Lipstick" blonde bombshell Lorelei Lee coins a perfect performance as one half of a singing double act and steals the picture completely as it really is her film. Jane Russell is a flawlessly restrained chalk to Marilyn's cheese and gives a very good performance also. The script is undeniably funny but also snarkily witty and understated and works wonderfully against the sequin studded dresses and glittering backdrops of songs like Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend.
(fr) wrote: A nice story but for some reason while the rest of the cast spoke with a Welsh accent the closest James Corden could get was Bristol

(kr) wrote: 3 of 5 stars for the movie comedy Yellowbeard. Monte Python meets Mel Brooks. Well this comedy parity of pirate movies combines the talents of Monte Python (Idle, Chapman, Cleese) with Mel Brooks' team (Mars, Kahn, Feldman, Boyle). The result is a funny lightweight comedy. Richly photographed, lots of sight gags and funny dialog. This is truly a turn your brain off, sit back and relax funny movie! If you are looking for a deep plot with lots of drama or suspense, don't look here! Yes, I do recommend this!
