(es) wrote: This was quite possibly one of the worst movies I've ever seen. The director had absolutely no idea how to create a cohesive presentation of scenes or how to develop a story. All the scenes were disjionted. The acting was atrocious. I have no idea after watching what the story was about other than this woman flying to Isreal to locate her missing daughter, who was mysteriously kidnapped...Why...No idea...

But this is an 80's movie, and "Flashdance" works best when it kicks its music and its dancing into gear. The songs are truly memorable (Irene Cara's Oscar-winning title song is unforgettable) and the choreography by Jeffrey Hornaday is energetic and enjoyable (even though Beals doesn't do her own dancing in the film). Overall, this one gets points for its 80's cheese, its soundtrack, its choreography, and Jennifer Beals' sympathetic heroine.

(es) wrote: there was potential in this movie if it hadn't been rushed through every scene and didn't feel like the director just wanted it over. There were moments that could of brought this into a good movie had the character work been done when the time came for it. There was a small amount of introductions and most is just left for us to assume until later on. Also the ending felt nothing but rushed since there wasn't time to actually go somewhere with it. all in all, I had glimpses of Poltergeist but nothing original and worth skipping all together.
