In Lapa, Rio de Janeiro, the idle aspirant writer Zeca has been living with Arts Professor Júlia for five years. He is stuck on page 50 of his novel for a long time and Zeca claims lack of inspiration to conclude the plot. He leads a comfortable life from inheritance left by his mother and administrated by his father Humberto. When Zeca sees Júlia alone with her best friend Carol in his flat, he believes that they are having a love affair and becomes obsessed with Carol, following her. Júlia travels to São Paulo with work giving Zeca the perfect opportunity to have an affair with Carol. So begins his complicated life: while Júlia works and studies for her doctorate, Zeca has sex with Carol during the days and with Júlia during the nights. Zeca plots a scheme to stay with either Carol or Júlia but his plan does not go as he hoped.

Nancy B (it) wrote: Not bad. A girl dies. Evil and good forces want her soul. Nothing amazing, but watchable.

Katherine B (es) wrote: Awful must of these were really bad, there was only a couple of interest, overall rating of this film was that it wasn't that good

Caleb C (ca) wrote: Maggie Gyllenhaal is great in this film. The film itself, though, is pretty dreary to watch. Fans of sad films will enjoy this

Steven K (ca) wrote: I have a weakness for music biopics, so I found this one entertaining (and heartbreaking, in its way. Anyone who thinks Bobby Darin was just some cornball oldies singer has never heard his version "If I Were a Carpenter." By the time he wanted to do more reflective material, he had had too many near-novelty pop hits that were bubblegum or close to it; the audience had trouble adjusting. Nevertheless, he was a star, and a beloved figure to anyone who treasures the fun pop music of the '60s. There is a reason he was on one of the coolest record labels ever: Atlantic records. Spacey put his heart into this, even if there was one too many choreographed dance numbers for my taste. Frankly, I think the critics were too rough on this movie.

Sean C (jp) wrote: I love the Hammer horror movies. This was one of their last ones to be put out in 1974. Peter Cushing is always awesome as Dr. Frankenstein. The monster that he creates is played by David Prowse, who will go on to play Darth Vader in Star Wars. This one is not as good as Curse of Frankenstein but it has it's moments and it has a such a sitcom type ending.

Nicki M (gb) wrote: I love the book, read it many times growing up. The movie does not stay true to its source, which is a real shame as the ending does ruin it. It's kind of weak as adaptations go, I think it's a little miscast and it hasn't aged very well, either. Kristy Swanson is an okay Cathy and the grandmother is also effective. The boys fail to convince and the mother is weak (her acting, I mean. Obviously the character is weak). It is watchable and the story is so horrific it does draw you in.I know another adaptation has been made and also one of the sequel, so I am very interested to see those and see if they were able to improve on this.

Thomas T (de) wrote: Nicolas Cage delivers a good performance, but The Frozen Ground simply does not feel biographical whatsoever.

Greg G (ag) wrote: Very gruesome! Need to see the other TCM movies to compare

Ian C (us) wrote: A different take on this mismatch cop buddy flicks. James Caan is the balls as the LA Cop who teams up with a new Alien partner to hunt the newcomer scum who killed his partner. Terence Stamp is a nasty cunt as the villian. I haven't seen this since renting it on video in 1988. It still holds up.
