Jens S (es) wrote: The later Rambo films do not have a very good reputation, and deservedly so. But the first part actually has a lot more to offer than just pointless action. It is the story of a Vietnam vet who can't seem to find a place in America's society anymore. Things get out of hand pretty quickly and Rambo is as much to blame as the asshole sheriff. The action scenes aged pretty well and are still great. The social commentary seems more current than you could imagine.

Francisco L (au) wrote: Strong script and well acted, but it could be a little more suspenseful and terrifying for this genre.
Trisha W (kr) wrote: The life and death of Billie Holliday was an interesting tale that I knew the basics of but not any details. And this story seemed to reinforce this, but not really add anything out of the ordinary except her beginnings. The acting in it was pretty good and the characters seemed to react really well to each other. The expressions in regards to dramatic situations weren't anything the write home about. There was nothing flashy about this film that would cause me to remember this many years from now as it served primarily to be a biography of Billie Holliday with famous actors rather than snapshots of her actual life. The cinematography for the cut scenes that did show true still pictures were decent but again, nothing out of the ordinary. Overall, this was a pretty mediocre film with not much flash nor heart.

Zachary M (au) wrote: Packing a movie with a million different characters can be fine fi they all have something about them that is interesting and makes them feel flushed out. It is very hard to do and it's why when a film does it, it garners so much admiration and love. This film packs in the characters, but nothing that makes them stand out. Add in a story so over bloated and sluggish it quickly becomes something that thinks it is clever, but is really not.
Jonathan H (kr) wrote: So poorly acted. So cliched. A horrible piece of kiss-ass retrospective so in awe of its subjects it makes we want to retch. Other than that it was brilliant.
Andres G (es) wrote: pretty ok aldo in some moments the movie slows down too much. its like a roller coaster. full speed then slow then full speed and the movie ends with slow speed again.
