They then begin to experience true horror as bizarre creatures begin to assail them. Brutal, yet somewhat predictable, Nailbiter manages to be a thoroughly engaging horror film despite not quite rising to the heights it could have.

Juan C (nl) wrote: Stephen Chow is at his best in one of his trademarked underdog stories. The Garfield sequences are stitched to the psyche of my core. The hero standing extremely erect in his suit, and the multiple Garfield's in a car are highlights. All to take advantage of the girl.Ng Man Tat also works wonderfully as the straight man to Chows hijinks. Though in the Chow universe, that is only so straight.Absurdity aside there is still some room for originality in this plot. Replacing the initial villain with a new and even more fiendish incarnation elevates the plot above the norm. The climax exists with an inventiveness only Chow could undertake and pull off. A lottery ball that appears out of nowhere pushes absurdity to the edge and triumphs.
