Eugene G (kr) wrote: I love this movie because its similar to "the war" with costner and wood, it makes you tear up and feel some emotions. definately one of the better movies of keatons career. lacked a little on the character development, dont know if kidman's accent was purposely slipping out or if shes just too hot to contain it. the struggle of keaton to fix himself could have been displayed better and the tension with his family didnt really seem to be relaxed. but definitely a good film
Aly H (gb) wrote: Interesting premise, although quite 'riske' for the time it was released. I felt it gave quite an insight as to what we are thinking to ourselves, especially when we analyze the opposite sex...also I loved how both compared each other to their exes. Although we try not to do it, we always end up doing so whether we'd like to or not. Awesome Flick! I definitely recommend seeing it!

Chris D (fr) wrote: A moody, atmospheric film that does a great job of delivering an interesting look at a dock romance. I especially loved the bar a good portion of the film took place it, full of seedy people doing seedy things. There were several really interesting shots, one was a pull back shot that featured a number of patrons beating the crap out of each other, and another was a beautiful shot as Bill walks up to the room where Mae is drying off, you see wisps of light coming out of a wall in another room. The film has such a great look with its use of shadows, which helped fill out the mood of the "hole in the wall" that this place was. I felt like the pacing was a bit slower toward the end, but overall a great little story.
