(gb) wrote: When it come to movies I like to take my chances with movies I never heard of before. Sometimes the payoff is good and you'll find a good movie like Pained. Pained is about Nam-soon who feels no pain after loosing his family, until he meets Dong-hyeon. As the two grow closer, Nam-soon suddenly begins to lose his lifelong insensitivity to pain and the hurt of a lifetime washes over him. Now I will admit the story isn't always focus and doesn't come out believable, but it doesn't set out to be realistic. Instead, its main focus is on telling a good and dark romance story which works. Now with a character who feels no pain for most of the movie, it's hard to get behind Nam-soon in some of his more emotional scenes, but thank goodness he's likable and dynamic character we get to know well. It's a dark and original romance story that's unlike most of the happy romance that we're use to seeing. Now with a dark romance story there's not really a whole much to talk about. There really isn't a huge cast as we mostly see the same three actors which works well for the movie as we don't get stuck with too many characters like other romance movies and any cliches. It had some moments of comic relief, though often times it feels out of place are welcome to relief some tension. Now I won't say anything about how it ends, but I will say it was very nerve racking for me and left a strong feeling on me. If you're in the mood for a dark and original romance with a good story and likable on screen couple go and watched Pained. It's truly a romance story unlike anything you're use to seeing.

The speech he makes us abouut allowing black people o vote is very emotional and inspirational. Also the scene where the marchers on the bridge are being beaten up it was very sad but realistic. Overall I extremely highly recommend you watch this movie.

However, this breezy tale of espionage is minus the great Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn. Instead, we have Gregory Peck, who's good but not as good at comic moments and is rather stiff, and Sophia Loren as the female lead, who I've never been that much of a fan of, though I know fans consider her to be at her most beautiful in this film, though that's lost on me. Still, this film is quite entertaining, fast paced and filled with nice little action and suspense set pieces.

I Walked with a Zombie is no exception, the misleadingly schlocky title hiding a surprisingly low-key tale of maternal instincts, family betrayals and naive love impulses which just happens to have West Indies Voodoo in the background. The acting is patchy at times, as is the dialogue but the atmosphere comes from Tourneur and his cinematographer Roy Hunts shadowy images and culminates in a haunting ending.
