A very well-acted movie especially by Joel Torre, Gerald Anderson, Joey Marquez, Piolo Pascual (memorable role along with Anderson) and even Vivian Velez in a minor yet memorable role as Boss Thelma. Plot and story is carefully written to seamlessly effective in delivering and exposing the rot and harsh society of the country in politics, crime and corruption. One may feel empathic to the characters especially to Sgt. Joaquin Acosta and Atty. Francis Coronel, Jr. because they show that there's still moral and honest government officials in the midst of corrupt ones. But as a whole, anyone can relate to the characters of the movie since each character portrays what human beings has the capacity to do in real-life situation. It's story has an interesting inspiration, highly compelling and well-thought plot. Highly recommended!

Joe G (ru) wrote: I saw this film on TCM and loved it. It's tthe biography of a young man who becomes the pupil of a Viola maestro in 17th century France. If you like Renaiisance string music, you'll love the frequent performances here. Gerard Depardieu is wonderful, as always, as the now middle aged man who was once the student who is the subject of the film. Made in France in 1991, the film won numerous awards.
Megan B (kr) wrote: A good satire examining black stereotypes in movies and TV in the late 70's which some can still be relevent today. THe prooblem is the movie feels more like sketch comedy then a real film. THere are a lot of funny scenes but only loosely held together with what little plot it has. It's the film version of In Living Color with a little more respectability and substance.

Bill T (br) wrote: So far, the most weakest Thin Man film (I havent seen the last one yet). Powell is fine. but Myrna Loy looks distracted this time out and disinterested. No wonder, as the plot beyond the murder. with Nick and Nora's intereactions this time out is weak, lots of sloppy filmmaking, somewhat overuse of Asta and the fact they disniss the kid at the beginning of the film ("He's in Kindergarten, we didnt want take him out") are all evidence of poor film planning on the producer's part. The murder mystery part is still good though.

Christian Bale does a fine job as the over the top German/American fighter pilot, who gets shot down during a bomb raid. The movie does a good job at showing the harshness, the cruelty, and the survival attics they go through once in the Vietcong prison and once they make their famous escape that almost goes ape shit when Jeremy Piven who does a really good job as one of the captured Americans who gets cold feet during the American breakout from the prison camp they are in. Steven Zhan does a pretty good job at times, but I just wonder if maybe another actor would have been better for the role as I feel him and Christian Bale were a little bit of an odd choice, but he did a fine job otherwise. Christian Bale I will say is definitely one of my favorite actors these days in the movies, and really look forward to many more of his performances for years to come, as I truly believe he is the Daniel Day Lewis of our era.
