Mattias E (au) wrote: Documentary Up The Yangtze captures the gargantuan dam project at Three Gorges through microoptics, focusing on it's effects in relation to the rural Chinese countryside and it's poor population. With a firm grip on the drama involved and in arrestingly beautiful visual fashion, Yung Chang compares China's development to the constant movement of a cruise ship, taking wealthy Westerners up the river. The director's own annotations through sparsely used voiceover make a respectful and suitable accompaniment to the main story.

David T (fr) wrote: I am into a variety of comedies and I really love watching films that have a bunch of odditites. I also love the fact that this has a big cast, especially Ben Stiller and Hank Azaria (The Simpsons, which I have enjoyed since I was a kid). I don't care for Janeane Garofalo due to her cockiness, I love her character though. Ben Stiller's performance was comical. Same goes for Mr. Hank Azaria and the others. I didn't have any problems with this film and I just consider this one of my all time, if not ALL TIME favorite underrated films of the 1990s. The laughs don't end and is just perfect for anyone who loves comedy. 5 stars and a thumbs up!

Dorianator F (ru) wrote: Great movie, fantastic acting, great story. The stockbroking details were just really confusing in the movie. But, it was a fantastic movie. Great performances from Douglas and both Sheens.

Bob W (gb) wrote: While firmly imbedded in 60 style and culture, the film nevertheless humorously touches on many of the difficult timeless realities created by long term relationships and divorce. A very fun cast. I especially enjoyed the insanity of Debbie Reynolds character being on a date with another divorced man (Tom Bosley later of Happy Days) and attempting to pick up the kids. The convoluted mess of broken families each trying to get their kids results in one child inevitably being left behind--poignant.

Lynne N (mx) wrote: Really enjoyed this movie - a fantastic cast, great music, very clever editing and a moving story. As great as all the main stars are, I felt the show was really stolen by Juano Hernandez, who plays Kirk Douglas' mentor Art Hazzard. His performance is heart-breaking.
