Justin P (de) wrote: Part 2 of The Dark Knight Returns ultimately has the same issues as its source material; but as this is a very faithful's hard to really fault the animation for that. The climax is perfect for what the overall story goes for, and the ending is clever and works perfectly, but its tonality is all over the place thanks to the strange narrative of the source material. The Dark Knight Returns is overall a triumph thanks to its great direction, and dedicated, precise animation...but ultimately still slightly falters due to to the actual story having an incredible start and a so-so finish (at least, that's the way I see it).

Matt T (de) wrote: I'm by no means opposed to trashy, predictable US comedies in principle, but this disaster has less redeeming features than the elephant man in a bad mood. Dakota Fanning is more annoying than she is in War of the Worlds and Brittany Murphy's character seems to think constantly dancing constitutes interestingly kooky. There may be a script or director associated with this movie, but I wasn't aware of either.

Darrin C (ru) wrote: Masterfully done with good dramatic energy and certainly a classic. Also, a good example of how the American system treats its veterans.

Mark W (br) wrote: This film moved me. A period piece but produced at the time when Argentina was coming out of its dark years, this also had a lot of social commentary that meant a lot to me.

Mathieu F (fr) wrote: The novel is a carefully constructed literary masterpiece written in a cold, cold style about what make us humans, i.e. romance or literary love because only we, humans, as practitioners of language, can love (a thesis also found in that wonderful film that is Bright Star). The love affair between Randolph Ash and Christopbel LaMotte in the Victorian era, in the time of Darwin who showed us that there is no God, demonstrates that people at the times believed in humans. The contemporary love affair between Maud and Roland, in our modern times, after Freud showed us that there is no human, only urges, shows us that there are still humans, in language. A post-post-modern fiction which de-constructs the idea of fiction before re-constructing it, the novel was a tour de force. Now the movie is interested only, as the tag line shows, in the double love affair. Nothing on the spirit of the two eras that are shown, nothing on what it is to be human. Still, it's worth watching: Gwynneth Paltrow is beautiful as ever and some scenes are shot in Caen! Yeah!

Iven S (br) wrote: Why did I grab this movie from the dvd store???.... Why??.. I guess I was on a mad roll of great movies that I felt that I needed to callibrate my taste... You know get to the bottom again to understand the top. I like Sandra Bullock and I guess I was in the mood for a no brainer movie that I could get a few chuckles out of and then completely forget. Well I should have specified how many chuckles because the amount of stars I gave this movie is exactly how many it got out of me. Look I could actually review this movie but that would give it more attention that the writers of this movie gave it... so I'm just going to slowly move away from the keyboard and hope that I can forget this disaster... but not entirely so I don't accidently hire it again.

Francisco L (kr) wrote: Boring since the begin until the end, the story isn't interesting, the suspense scenes are predictable, without charismatic characters, with Ralph Fiennes character exception and with a weak script which made the organised narrative looks silly, like the hole in the cell's floor. Grand Busdapest Hotel brings to us a desnecessary movie with some cliches, but with a stunning and unusual, in the good way, visual and it deserves to be applauded because of that. The touching and comic scenes didn't work.
