(au) wrote: The Spectacular Now is a great example of a film that I heavily anticipated and enjoyed on the first viewing but has really aged poorly. Looking back on it, The Spectacular Now is well acted and well put together but it's painfully generic in terms of plot and there is nothing terribly gripping about the performances. Frankly, everything plays out precisely as you would expect, making for an unlikely second viewing. It turns out that The Spectacular Now might just be spectacularly average.

(ca) wrote: A psycho called George kidnaps our 'heroine' Megan and stuffs her in the boot of his car where he plays mind games with her for an hour and a half through a two-way microphone and speaker...yup, I think I've pretty much covered everything here... Now I know it stars only two people for an hour and a half but this had the potential to be something good which instead turned into an epic fail! Honestly one of the worst movies I've seen in my life, I think I'd rather watch one of Seltzer and Friedburg's 'comedy' movies again than this! The characters are about as interesting as cardboard and the psycho isn't believable. The woman is even worse as she lays in the car laugh-I mean, crying unconvincingly. The acting is probably the worst I've seen and tends to insult my sight and hearing, they could have been replaced by cardboard cut-outs of themselves and they probably would have done a better acting job. The story could have been something great but instead dragged for too long with quite a few pointless scenes. The worst part of this movie was the ending which was painfully predictable. I can't review much more of this movie as I just can't see what else I can say about it apart from...don't see it! Not worth the watch to be honest. I don't know what made me think the trailer looked decent because looking at it now makes me cringe! 0/10 If I had the choice to watch Trunk or Disaster Movie, I seriously think I would actually pick Disaster Movie and I really hate that movie. Save yourself the time and watch the trailer...you can guess what happens in the end. I just wished I could have ninety minutes of my life back!

(es) wrote: Whst the hell was this crap? I've seen better acting in pre-school. summary: real gore,....terrible acting, and oh wait flash some real gore again!
(us) wrote: Nearly ten years after seeing this film I hate it as much as ever. This has to be one of the most overrated films of all time. There is a complete lack of a protagonist with any moral center. Hubby lied about watching porn? Cheat on him with that hunky neighbor dude, your a FEMINIST, so you can do what you want. Forget about that oath you made your husband, that voluntary promise you made to him. Don't even make an effort to fix your marriage, or don't even get a divorce. Just become a cheater! It's easy! Because all men are either gross pervs that watch porn or are super HUNKY, flawless fathers. Never in a movie has the main character been so deluded with herself and gets away with it at the end of the movie. This is just porn for women made by men, that's all there is to it.
(ru) wrote: Uninspired dreck, Urban Legends: Final Cut has none of the wit or charisma of the original. The casting is fine and features Jennifer Morrison, Matthew Davis, Eva Mendes, and Anthony Anderson, but the story is crap. An art student working on her thesis film about urban legends finds that her crew is slowly being picked off one-by-one by a mysterious killer. The script is terrible, particularly the weak and uninteresting urban legends that it uses. And, the film itself is incredibly pretentious with all its metaphor about film. Urban Legends: Final Cut is a barely coherent film that has no real scares to it.

(gb) wrote: Frank Capra directs this fantasy-adventure of a group of English refugees fleeing an uprising in China. The plane is commandeered, crashing deep into unexplored Tibet. The passengers are led to a fantastic city cradled in a valley - it truly seems to be the legendary Shangi-La, where the citizens live in peace. Unfortunately, the middle section bogs down, consisting mainly of the characters viewing the splendor and struggling to believe that it's true. There's no real conflict until the final third, when Robert Conway (Ronald Coleman) has to choose whether or not to leave. The overall story is affecting, heartfelt and sincere, and while I'm glad I saw the longest version possible, I understand why subsequent releases were shorter and shorter.
