Will Smith & Jaden Smith probably won't be staring in many films together after this one though so that's a pro, I guess. There was potential here- again, I liked the premise and some of the world building was good but for every pro there's 50 cons. Would I have liked this had I seen it a kid?Nah, the dude has just got worse, this film sucks, yo. I WAS ONLY A KID. . . Unbreakable? Great! But. I WAS ONLY A KID. . . I loved Sixth Sense too but. I loved Signs when I first saw it but I WAS ONLY A KID. Shyamalan has had so many giant misfires that I've started to question whether he was ever good to begin with. You could replace Will Smith with Daniel Day Lewis and his son with Robert De Niro (he's still versatile, okay!?) and this one would still be a complete dud. The script is terrible- like, no cast of actors could save it. Still, 'After Earth' is a steaming pile of crap. Okay, so some of it looks kind of cool and I like the premise

Even Rufus Sewell's hotness couldn't keep me watching this hot mess. I made it an hour in before my limit was reached

ow. that ending was sick

The fourth entrance in the Underworld fanchise manages to be more boring despite more action and a somewhat interesting plot that never really rolled out in the way it should have (maybe just to make room for a sequel)

A highly emotional modern-day epic

Every single character is annoying, and I was actually disappointed that they didn't all die. Any decent attempts at narrative or direction are completely lost in everything else. laughable in almost every aspect. . . Has to be one of the worst films I have ever seen

It didn't help that the score was yet another unpleasant 80's concoction, or that the wardrobe was peculiar for the time period. Besides being terribly boring and longwinded, the absence of fear was evident on the screen. The prefect system on the other hand is both an annoying subplot, and supposedly overbearing presence in the lives of the schoolmates. ) With his usual suave flair and youthful grandeur, Everett is just sly enough not to outright confess throughout the plot that his sexuality is based on himself and not his situation. (Other notable roles go to very young Colin Firth and Cary Elwes. Rupert Everett, the only shining light of the entire film, is only sparingly announced as gay amongst his peers, most of whom are so desperate for companionship that they have secret trysts with members of their classes. Fusing together themes of homosexuality, Communism, and the system of prefects in British boarding schools in the 1930's, it becomes a haphazard maze of inconsistencies and irritating subtext. Another Country is always trying to be far more complex than it actually is
