Luciano G (br) wrote: The end could be better and it was somehow foreseeable. But the movie still surprises with the amazing scenery of the "Isla del Hierro" (the smallest of the 7 Canarian Islands in Spain). Elena Anaya is the perfect actor for the movie and the camera team did a good job too.....

S S (au) wrote: I didn't know what the premise of this film was when i was going into it. I rather enjoyed the beginning, the move to New York, meeting the neighbors and the panicked muslim wife...at this time I was still hopeful for a good flick..perhaps a social commentary on the mindset of a 'good normal muslim' and the extremist mindset or exploring muslim life in american and different viewpoints etc etc...but then the 'twist' happened and the movie switched from drama to thriller/action...and from decent to..what the fuck is this shit? After the twist, the story was a confused mess and was a complete chore to watch. I don't understand why they choose to take this direction. I do wanna say the acting was good, especially that of Vivek Oberoi but the ridiculous plot destroys any redeeming qualities this film has had. 6/10

Victor T (gb) wrote: The 90s were undeniably the golden years of independent cinema, thanks to Linklaters "Slacker" and "Dazed & Confused", Aronofskys "Pi", Tarantinos "Reservoir Dogs", Rodriguezs "El Mariachi", Nolans "Following", "The Blair Witch Project", and Smiths "Clerks".Dante Hicks is a 22 year old clerk, who is called into work on his day off, thus beginning what appears to be a regular day but it soon becomes into a more than peculiar day. Out of all the filmmakers that emerged from the 90s, Kevin Smith is the one that I have purposely avoided as he is basically the stereotypical immature geek, who managed to make a career in Hollywood, but considering the reputation of his directorial debut and the fact that Im interested in indie cinema, I decided to give his first film a shot and while it wasn't as bad as I expected, I wasn't impressed either. "Clerks" has inconsistent comedy that can go from hilarious to pathetic, a peculiar cast of characters that are the embodiment of 90s teenagers and are fun to watch but other than Jay and Silent Bob, they are forgettable; Smiths directing is generic and bland but considering the films limitations it is surprising he managed to achieve that quality of filmmaking, a plotless storytelling that's more than obviously inspired by "Slacker", an amusing B movie vibe (which I don't know if that was intentional or not), a solid entertaining value, the relationships between the characters fell genuine, amusingly fun sequences, and acting that isn't good at all but it feels natural. The big issue that both makes and destroys this film is the reason that Kevin Smith made career: The dialog. "Clerks" has one of the most inconsistent dialog I have ever heard on a film, as at times it is fun, hilarious and somewhat clever for an amateur filmmaker. But then it becomes embarrassing, unnecessarily sexual (which is not funny at all), most of the quotes are extremely juvenile, it is extremely repetitive, and it feels like if Kevin Smith thought that he was writing the greatest script of all time when it isn't that impressive (just look at his pathetic attempt to create parallels with the first chapter of "The Divine Comedy"). "Clerks" is one of the most frustrating films Ive seen. It is brilliant at times but mostly it is embarrassing. I can see why Smith managed to make a career out of this film, but this doesn't completely deserves its reputation of being a milestone in indie cinema. Highly enjoyable and memorable but it is not masterpiece. If you enjoy juvenile humor, then you will enjoy this film more than I.

Ian C (es) wrote: Lighthearted homage to Hitchcock and in particular, Rear Window. It was great seeing Keaton and Allen on screen, again. It didn't make me laugh much but it's quirkiness, mad cap antics and Alan Alda made it enjoyable.

Duncan D (br) wrote: Fantastic footage overshadows the acting. Typical Herzog themes of tortured machismo.

Lester F (nl) wrote: Ford did a great job. I wanted a little bit more from Annette Bening and Mikki Allen but they did a decent job. I liked the story and it had a neat ending, nothing too radical but I thought it was quite good overall.
