MARJORAM is a psychological suspense drama about a mother-daughter relationship in which love and abuse seem go hand in hand. Anna (11) is a smart and talented kid. Mary, her mother, actively supports Anna so that she can get the best out of her talents. However, suddenly Anna starts behaving in strange ways, putting herself in danger. When asked what is happening, Anna claims that she is just fine. Her weird behavior however continues, driving Mary to her limits. Why a child, who seems happy on the surface, is acting so unpredictably? Why a mother, who loves her child so much, is having no clue of what is going on?

A little of 'Due Date' and quite a bit of 'Planes, Trains, Automobiles'; but beautifully captured in the essence of India. Got to watch it for Vinay Pathak's splendid performance...

This book, however, was one of the most boring of all time and very different from King's usual fare. It's a character drama, about an estranged mother and daughter brought together by the mother's implication in her employer's death. The ubiquitous dust bunnies from the book where thankfully absent from the film, which had some success at developing a certain depth out of the main characters' painful reminiscences. Bates was quite good, but I find Jennifer Jason Leigh to be a distracting and inconsistent actor.

(ca) wrote: very funny. so that means that sister act with whoopi was just an american remake. well this original is much better, more complex, and just simply more realistic. nuns who do drugs, have a tiger in their back yard and simply all the crazyness that takes place in that monastery. very enjoyable comedy/drama about nuns:) what else are they supposed to do in their spare time?:)
