Skip it. Connery is perfectly cast, but the distracting inclusion of Wesley Snipes and his hip-hop gangsta baggage makes this a totally confusing, embarrassing mess. Crichton's novel was brilliant, but the film version is a disgrace. God, they screwed this up good

There's something for everyone to enjoy in Horror of Dracula, whether you are a horror movie buff or only watch horror movies at Halloween. The blood and horror effects are tame by today's standards but hold up pretty well. Horror of Dracula is a fun movie from beginning to end and never gets too intense or gross so even squeamish people can enjoy the movie. Not every bit of scenery looks completely real but the hint of artificiality only adds to the fantasy element of the movie. There is great scenery and the production design does a good job at setting the mood for a Gothic vampire tale set in a far away land. Some people might find Horror of Dracula campy, but it is undeniably entertaining. The climactic confrontation between Van Helsing and Dracula does not disappoint; it's action packed and all the while Van Helsing wears his boss coat. He springs into action too: he leaps over a railing and runs upstairs when he hears someone removed the garlic from Lucy's bedroom. He believably portrays Van Helsing as learned scholar and fearless vampire hunter. Cushing's performance and screen presence keeps those scenes interesting and entertaining. We spend most of the movie with Van Helsing as he tracks down Dracula. He makes his first appearance in the movie wearing a very cool, very boss fur collared coat and bowler hat. The only match for a badass, action Dracula is a badass, action Van Helsing and that's what Peter Cushing gives us. In other words, a this is a badass Dracula, and Christopher Lee has the talent to make it believable. This is a take charge, action Dracula. Other versions of Dracula usually give him servants to do his bidding, but this Dracula drives his own carriage and digs a grave for Mina himself. In one scene Lee bounds across a large dining room and over a table to pull his bride away from attacking Harker. The danger and threat he poses are immediate and ever present. Lee's Dracula exudes menace. Lee's tall stature of 6'5" and natural physical appearance give his Dracula a commanding and imposing presence. Van Helsing and the screen presence of Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing. All of those elements are still entertaining today, but the reason this film works, then and now, is because of its reinterpretation of Count Dracula and Dr. This film was shot on Technicolor so the colors of the sets and costumes are rich and vivid, and red blood is especially red. That means that when someone gets stabbed or bitten we see blood, Dracula's bride wears a dress revealing her cleavage, and Lee plays Dracula as a dangerous seducer. Horror of Dracula was impressive when it was released because, like other Hammer horror films, it ups the ante on violence, action, and sexuality. It takes the already existing characters and then just makes up a different story and does what it thinks is most entertaining, and it is indeed very entertaining. It is almost like Dracula fan fiction. Almost none of this happens in the novel. Van Helsing is on Harker's trail and tries to save Lucy and Mina and put an end to the sinister vampire. Dracula seeks revenge by first trying to take Harker's fianc, Lucy, for his new bride, and then Lucy's sister, Mina. Harker becomes trapped in the castle and succeeds in killing the Count's bride, but not Dracula himself. Van Helsing. Jonathan Harker arrives at Castle Dracula in Klausenburg to work as the librarian for the Count, but he is actually a vampire hunter and protg of Dr. The movie begins with bright red blood dripping on Dracula's tomb. Horror of Dracula is a loose remake of Todd Browning's Dracula from 1931, and an even looser adaptation of the Bram Stoker novel. When Terence Fisher, Peter Cushing, and Christopher Lee made a film together for Hammer, audiences were in for a treat. The first film in which Lee took on the already legendary character was in 1958 with Horror of Dracula, co-starring fellow horror movie icon and superb actor Peter Cushing, and directed by Terence Fisher. When people think of Dracula, they either picture Bela Lugosi or Christopher Lee. However, his most famous role is unquestionably as Dracula in a series of movies for the British production company Hammer. He had a long and impressive career that included both the Star Wars and Lord of the Rings film series. The passing of movie icon Christopher Lee earlier this year was very sad news, but he left us with many, many films to enjoy

King Kong is a loyal, visually stunning remake that has a great cast, but unfortunately is too glamorous, corny and long to be as great as it could have been

izard Rating: 68. It has the ingredients of a really great, meaningful film, but sacrifices this for the sake of irreverent jokes--albeit a few, I admit, I laughed at. It's not like there's some overindulgence of these type of films for a satire to be warranted. As a former camper-turned-counselor, a lot of my own memories from growing up happened at camp, and I just wish that the filmmakers weren't so concerned with making it a satire. There are some really great scenes and story arcs that it doesn't capitalize on. With not a lot of good coming-of-age summer camp movies out there to choose from, Wet Hot American Summer misses an opportunity to really touch upon the nostalgia of going to camp. As much as I laughed, I was hoping this movie would be something a little different. And the highlight is the penultimate scene at the End of Summer Talent Show, where we are treated to an MC that echoes a demented Henny Youngman. But oddly enough, the movie's best moments all involve the kids in some way--although the film is meant to be about the counselors. It resembles some sort of modern-day Airplane! but even Airplane! had us invested in how it would end. There are some really clever bits, but it's mostly just a massive compilation of jokes without any real overarching linearity. The characters are all pretty much the same type of stupid, with not much varying in personalities. And despite this being a summer camp themed movie, there are not a lot of archetypes. But unfortunately, most of the talents went underutilized and nobody gets nearly enough screen time. Miles, et al). D. With a cast that reads off more like a very odd Garry Marshall holiday-themed film, one would think that this was the comedy event of the year (consisting of Paul Rudd, Amy Poehler, Bradley Cooper, Molly Shannon, Elizabeth Banks, Janeane Garofalo, David Hyde Pierce, Michael Ian Black, A. But instead of it being about the campers, it's about the counselors and how they all try to make the best of their final 24 hours. Wet Hot American Summer takes place on the last day of camp, during the summer of 1981. And for those who enjoy its irreverence, they will get a lot out of this one. It never tries to be something it's not. The style of humor is consistent. And while this one may not be laugh-out-loud for everyone, it definitely has its moments. But on top of it all, they're supposed to be funny. Do we judge them simply based on how well-written the jokes are? Or how good the story is? Already, they have to be given a handicap because there are some aspects of ordinary film that, by nature, they usually don't possess--like character depth or a traditional narrative. Satire films are difficult to review

Loved it! For once, a twist I didn't see coming, which is so rare that I appreciate it so much when it happens

REAL CURIO. IT DOESN'T FLOW WELL. IT IS POORLY EDITED. THE ACTORS ARE SO-SO. ONE THING THAT STOOD OUT AS ODD WAS THE NEAR ABSENSE OF HIS MUSIC. ON ONE HAND IT IS A SURPRISINGLY NEUTRAL MOVIE, ON THE OTHER HAND IS IS VERY LOW BUDGET. THIS IS A REALLY TOUGH ONE TO RATE
