(ag) wrote: Very serious in places, it covers teenage bullying and self-harming issues between the catfights and hot yo-yo action. Teases the viewer with young Japanese stunners in school uniforms then squeezes two of the cuties into much tighter and more skimpy PVC outfits for the finale. Sexy silliness with a dark side.

(au) wrote: Could have been great. The concept is a good one and they have two of the best actors around playing the two leads, but it just doesn't work. The script for one is terrible, it looks terribly dated and the usually perfect Russell Crowe, who obviously had a whale of a time playing SID, just goes a bit too far, his overacting at times its cringe worthy. The only reason I gave this more than half a star is that the ever brilliant Denzel Washington adds a touch of class to the proceedings, tho even he can't work miracles!
(kr) wrote: What a terrible follow up to a really good first movie, and who thought Rosie O'Donnell would be a good addition? Whoever it was they should get smacked in the head.
(mx) wrote: Compelling in both ways to the craftsmanship and the skepticism-surrounded story, with the result being unmatched between the two when just stating the summarized fact through examined social communications and some amount of decent effort, treating the story a blend of biopic through the facts with the interfering sci-fi genre. (nl) wrote: Jose Ferrer is excellent in this, but the story plays out in a very uninteresting way. Like most Preminger films I've seen, I like the look of it and the premise, but it plays a bit too slow and everyone seems a bit detached from any real emotion--Ferrer excepted.

(it) wrote: The ridiculous level it goes to and plot holes it reaches are both probably through the roof. I choose to ignore logic and sense and just wait to see what happens in the end. That ending does make the effort mostly worthwhile, but then you realize how little sense it all makes.
(gb) wrote: The scene with the child's chorus over lapped with the imagery of Jews being beaten and taken from their home was powerful and will stick out as a perfect example of a great scene in an otherwise mediocre movie. The acting from the three main leads is fine in its self. And it is nice and kind of weird seeing a World War 2 movie set in Germany that follows the lives on people other than in hiding Jews and/or the people trying to smuggle them out, though there is a bit of that. Despite all of this, the film will go down as just another unremarkable adaptation in a world of ever more unremarkable adaptations.

(kr) wrote: This was a really great family film. John C. Reilly & Sarah Silverman's voices & inflections were absolutely perfect... & Silverman is very underrated.
