Jeff B (au) wrote: As far as the sequel goes, it's not as good as the first, mainly because we don't get to see the trial scenes or talk to much of the family. The film is more than two hours long and I feel they're trying to fill it up with things they don't really need to use. It's also extremely one sided, putting the blame on John Byers, the victim's stepfather (not that I don't believe he took part in the killings, I think he did). I guess I could've done without so much focus on the Free the West Memphis Three people, it almost came across like the filmmakers were patting themselves on the back showing how much their film means to people. I wish we got to see more from the West Memphis Three themselves, I really liked the scene where Damien was on the phone answering "fans" questions. Now, the stuff with John Byers, man this guy is crazy, can it be anymore obvious that he is putting on a show? The scene where he's at his wife's grave saying goodbye, kissing the picture and crying and screaming at the camera how much he hates the three convicts. Or the scene where he goes to the woods and burns the place down, pretty much making it look like he's trying to burn the evidence. Or when he takes the lie detector test and manages to pass, even though we clearly see him lying on several questions. The list goes on. After watching the movie I checked up on the case to see what's been going on, and apparently Byers now thinks the three are innocent. Anyway, it's a good documentary, but it wasn't as engaging as the first, and I think that's largely due to the filmmakers themselves and how much they got away with in the first.

Justin S (ag) wrote: So in an effort to catch up on my Spanish language films before I call into the Flicksation Podcast, I decided I'd look up a list of people's favorite Spanish language films. Pretty much on every list was Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down! and so when I found it was also on Netflix, I committed to watching it. These are my thoughts:Probably the first thing you'll notice when watching this movie is that Antonio Banderas plays a great crazy guy. I mean he's real crazy in this. There are some genuinely strange moments which were made possible by Banderas coupled with some great cinematography, one of which being the first time he lies in bed with the character Marina. While on the topic of creepy Banderas I would be wrong not to mention all of the great hairstyles you'll get to see him rock in this movie. Ok, so there are really only two, but they are both great. One is this awesome wig and the other is an equally (if not more so) awesome mustache. So get excited for that.Another obviously enjoyable aspect of the movie is the color pallet. Bright oranges, reds, and blues work well together to provide this authentic Spanish feel. I'm pretty sure it takes place in Spain at least...at one point Ricky (Banderas) points out his home town on a map and says they'll drive there and I'm pretty sure it's a map of Spain...anyways, none of this is important. Just know that the colors are beautiful and so is the architecture and different rooms in the apartment complex they spend much of their time in. One thing that will stick with me for a while is the image of Marina in her orange dress swinging from the rope outside that blue house while it is 'raining' (all of this is part of a movie she is in). It's really a cool image, and the movie inside the movie is actually pretty intriguing on its own. A lot of the movie is beautifully shot, fun to watch, and interesting, but I couldn't help but think "what is going on" the entire time I watched the movie. It's easy to keep up with the story, but it's kind of difficult to make sense of why Marina is acting the way she does. I get the whole Stockholm Syndrome thing but from the very beginning Marina seems to act a bit irrationally, or at least in a way that I don't think I would act if I were being kidnapped by creepy Antonia Banderas. This kind of ads to the intrigue of the movie but it also pulled me out of the story and made me wish I could learn more about Marina and why she is awful at escaping things. When you get to the scene where they are laying in bed together (the same one I mentioned earlier) just remember this review and try to explain to me why she doesn't smash a lamp over his head? Come on Marina, get your act together. This movie is interesting. I wouldn't say I loved it but there were definitely parts that were amazing. The final scene is a mixture of surreal, funny, sad, and haunting which I'd say are all words that could describe the movie overall. Interesting concept, could have been better, could have been worse.

Stefan G (nl) wrote: While the validity of the film's subject matter is debatable at best, that doesn't stop it from being an enjoyable film. The film is about a man who is driven by wealth, power, and lust, and needs a body double so he can be in two places at once. What I like about the film is how Dominic Cooper (the starring actor) can play two identical characters seamlessly, especially given that the two have overtly different personality. The main character, Latif, tries his hardest not to be too much like the person he's imitating, especially when you're dealing with the wild and sadistic son of Saddam Hussein. The film seems to be trying to juggle both drama and action at the same time. Some parts of the film feel more like an action movie, while others feel more like a gritty drama film. While certain stylistic inconsistencies might be a problem for some, they also don't appear to be incredibly noticeable. The Devil's Double is a flawed film, and it won't please everyone with its violence and shady characterizations, but I think it's still a good movie, and that's all that matters in this case.

Now it's up to a Chinese cop and a mouthy self obsorbed L.A. cop to get it together and try to get along although they have two different ways of doing things. REVIEW: With the fast action of jackie Chan and the fun hilarious antics of Chris Tucker this movie is super fun and tremendously entertaining. It's another one of those that has the perfect mixture of humor and action blended together to make it a very entertaining and fun movie. Chan's martial arts are better than ever bringing very fast paced action and Chris Tucker brings the humor very rapidly as well. Rush Hour is definitely one of my many favorite buddy cop movies.

Al S (es) wrote: It's a wickedly funny and action-packed movie that delivers. It's non-stop great fun from start to finish. It's hard-boiled and hilarious while packing plenty of bullets, punches and sharp one-liners. A dazzling and wonderfully made action-comedy. Burt Reynolds and Clint Easwood are absolutely delightful, they play off each other nicely with their great chemistry. Reynolds brings plenty of charm and class. Easwood has plenty of witt and cool-fire presence. Theirs no doubt that these two guys are packing serious heat in City Heat. One of the best buddy-cop movies of the 1980's.
