Rodel Jr O (au) wrote: Its a movie where any gay people can easily relate to since everybody has been in love in our teenage years. Teenage love story is less complicated making you feel the sincerity of love, its sweetness and charm. The ending may look too optimistic but there are indeed gay people who can show their affection on public despite the social perspective on such.

Nina S (ru) wrote: The screenplay by Coward is a collection of cliches, and they're not even cliches we might still support today. The moral of noble sacrifice is smothered under classism and elitism. Very skillful, but difficult to like.

Tyler S (br) wrote: A meh film. Pretty messy at times, and pretty confusing to the point it didn't make sense,. I thought Travolta was great in this as a cocky investigator. Nathan West (played by Jackson) is murdered during a routine training exercise. The twist here is a hurricane sweeps in causing much confusion to what actually happened. Its a kind of like much worse Courage Under Fire as you hear view points from each of the people that were there that night...the acting besides Travolta is suspect and it just fails to make much sense.
Walter M (it) wrote: In "The Sweeney," London Police's Flying Squad under the command of Jack Regan(Ray Winstone) makes another stunning bust, interrupting an armed robbery in progress. Only to find out that DCI Ivan Lewis(Stephen Mackintosh) of internal affairs has issues with their use of violence. In any case, DCI Frank Haskins(Damian Lewis) covers for Regan, even as Regan is carrying on an affair with Lewis' wife, Nancy(Hayley Atwell), who is also in Regan's unit. Well, maybe it's a good thing there is a case to distract them all, a jewelry robbery gone wrong. As befitting a movie based on a television series, "The Sweeney" feels like a cliched extended episode of a police procedural, and one whose complicated resolution I still don't understand. But what separates this from mediocrity is the excellent Ray Winstone, simultaneously tough and sensitive, whose throwback look contrasts with the shining towers of modern London which is also well photographed. And as a bonus there is the thrilling ten minute open air shootout which is probably in the top ten all-time.

I think the acting in this movie is great and the story is well written. It made me want to make more money. This won't be for everyone, but I would still recommend giving it a try!
