Andy F (kr) wrote: Rose McGowan is terrible in this predominantly because of her expression free plastic face and trout pout lips. The story itself is also dire and unengaging. A waste of an hour and a half.

Eric M (nl) wrote: It's definitely schmaltzy, but damn it, sometimes you just need a feel good corny movie. Loved it.

House M (ag) wrote: This movie is interesting in it's content. After seeing the documentary called The Specialist about Eichmann's trial, this flick is a great follow up on the topic. It is hard to tell the story of a philosopher, for their lives are made of long introspective periods of thinking and stand often as uninteresting. This movie does not go deep enough on the theories of Arendt and is lacking a personal story to tell, it gets overall very superficial. Not a must see, but interesting to watch anyways.

Jacob G (fr) wrote: Don't believe the 2011 date listed on Flixster for this. 1974 is a bit more accurate. The Traveler is rough, but identifiably Kiarostami. The acting is... well, pedestrian, but I'm guessing no one featured in this has acted before or since and, as such, lends an air of authenticity to the story.Speaking of the story, there is something satisfying about the whole "troubled-kid-steals-cons-and-pawns-his-way-to-a-soccer-event" and its ensuing can-see-it-coming-a-mile-away conclusion. As a bonus feature on Criterion's blu-ray release of Close-Up, I actually found this to be the more interesting film of the two.

Robt B (nl) wrote: Paul Giamatti plays himself in this comedy. A mixture of sci-fi and Faustian questions, the ideas about souls make this film worth watching.

Sonika S (ca) wrote: One of those rare movies showing you the beauty of emotions and the fact there are no limitations concerning it. Even if you do not speak the same language two people can come to know the deepest parts of a persons soul. Also, it showed sometimes in our lives we need to forgive ourselves for things in the past. The key is letting go of it all and fighting for the future. John realized he had a good life when Tahmeena came into it. She showed him the beauty in life and he gave her safety and love. Both the actors did an amazing job! Must see movie.

Paul C (fr) wrote: Film has some interesting characters, especially the non-actors. But, special effects and suspense just aren't there. Paul Chambers, CNN.

Je l'ai cout avec mes enfants et ils ont bien aim aussi. C'est ridiculement drle et ces filles savent comment s'amuser.

Sgt C (fr) wrote: (34%)An entertaining Blaxplotation flick that benefits from its short run time and breezy pace. There is enough fun kung-fu to keep most people happy and the final fight is quite well done but don't expect a masterpiece.

William W (jp) wrote: Although Sinatra's already starting to sleepwalk through these mod detective comedy dramas, this is still very entertaining and worth the trouble, if you're either into Sinatra or detective films from the period, with a touch of camp. Not a bad way to spend an evening--especially with Raquel Welch looking like THAT.
