In 1923 British Colonial Nigeria, Mister Johnson is an oddity -- an educated black man who doesn't really fit in with the natives or the British. He works for the local British magistrate, and considers himself English, though he has never been to England. He is always scheming, trying to get ahead, which lands him in a lot of hot water.

Ryan E (au) wrote: An excellent documentary about open racism in the south. It shows all the point of views, the black and the white students that want one prom; it only makes sense because they go the same school and they hang out together. Shows the white parents that want the separate proms (who are rednecks and they are extremely stupid). That's the problem, it's the school board and the parents choice to have it that way and they were raised up to believe that white people are better than others. And sadly, racism will all ways exist just like war, history repeats itself, people will never learn. Morgan Freeman is a great person for doing this, I just wished he narrated the whole movie.

Cynthia S (ag) wrote: Well done, without being too grim. Slow moving, yet interesting to watch. Just nicely put together enough to tug on the heartstrings. I thought that the ending was very nicely done. No death scene...just images of what was left behind. Nice....

Regi H (fr) wrote: I loved this movie as a kid. Not so much anymore. Its a cliche buddy cop movie during the animation part of the movie and the live action part of the movie is disgusting. Bill Murray is unlikable, how do you manage that!?

Seth H (nl) wrote: High school tale that takes a surprisingly realistic turn and avoids more cliches than it embraces. Not very polished, but Cruise's struggle as a semi-star here is worth the watch.
