Rob S (ca) wrote: Rod Steiger is absolutely remarkable in his portrayal of a Holocaust survivor who blearily lets each day go by running a pawnshop in New York. Some really great shots in beautiful black and white. Not an easy watch, but well worth it!

Brendan N (ru) wrote: action is well handled and the hero is well masked. The script is a little undercooked just like the acting in the supporting roles but the film works and is fun.

Isadore H (nl) wrote: Gosling and Crowe prove to be a hilarious duo in this seventies era buddy cop comedy. The film literally screamed 1977, and it was beautiful when paired up with a great cast and a bevy of great one liners and gags. The plot lost me at times, but there was never a dull moment between the two leads. The direction by Shane Black is great, and the ending is one that is satisfying and will hopefully lead to more of these films
