Jesus H (ag) wrote: Wow! I just watched this film and I can not disagree more with some of the poor ratings here. The film is bittersweet in that the almost every character is a compulsive gambler in their own way. The story is engaging and the cast is superb. Watch this film without distraction, I guarantee you will not be disapointed.

Alice S (kr) wrote: The acting was superb, but the film was so sad. Everything about it was morose until the end and then it gave the audience what it thought "we wanted." But...the ending is a completely different tone than the rest of the movie. There should have been glimmers of hope throughout the film to prepare us for the ending. Oh well...but good job Michelle Williams!

STCENTERPRISE (es) wrote: This film is filled with Too many inaccuracies for the time period this film is based upon. This film is also very different from the original film. I did like the action scenes in Paris. Having Jackie Chan in the film go to China. This film shows an entertaining Journey. I do like the film score theme for this film. The computer graphics are interesting. In this version there is more action. Phileas Fogg is considered an inventor with questionable objects of his time similar to Doc Brown in Back to the Future. Phileas Fogg abilities are considered questionable to the scientific community. If wins Phileas Fogg is to become head Minister of the Scientific Community in England. But if he does not make it he is to decommission his laboratory and no longer invent again. This film is filled with more obsticils than encountered the 1950's version. Also the ethnicity of Monique La Roche & Passepartout is reversed compared to the 1956 version. In the 1956 version Passepartout is a Spanish ethic background & Princess Aouda is from India. I found the culture mix better and more interesting match compared to the 1956 film. This film has more trying to stop the trip than in the 1956 version of the film.

Damjan R (mx) wrote: Framed and composed to perfection, Throne of Blood is a surreal treat. As an adaptation of "that Scottish play" it works wonderfully incorporating elements from both cultures into a story that just works. Kurosawa is a master of the frame and composition and throughout the whole film he is constantly challenging the viewer to pay close attention to every nuance of what he sees. In addition to that he commands the elements to accent the story and it's a wonder to behold. Light on action, and high on drama Throne of Blood gives a truly haunting portrayal of what people are prepared to do if given even the smallest window of opportunity. It features many memorable scenes and shots, perhaps none more bone chilling than a vision of Washizu's wife Asaji as she first descends into darkness only to emerge stone-faced and more motivated than ever. Despite heaps of praise the film has occasional dips in pacing that slow it down, but that is a minor gripe. Recommended for anyone looking for true cinematic power.
