Michael S (ca) wrote: Blue Like Jazz is one more movie I find critics opinions utterly useless. Blue Like Jazz is a honest hard look at religion and the difficult truths in life. Donald Miller is one of the most impressive authors I have ever come across. His writing is true and honest. His words aren't always appealing but they are true. In every book I have read by him I end it with questions and a lot of time thinking. This movie does a fantastic job of taking the memoir styled book and translating the hidden truth and beautiful philosophy into film. I have met Donald Miller and his struggles are laid out so straight forward I feel as though I had known him for years. His books give a screen into his life and because of that you feel like your having coffee with the guy, not watching a memoir of a hard time. This movie is utterly phenomenal and a great film from every side.

Pranav K (gb) wrote: Fun, interesting movie about a man trying to remember what happened last night, while poking fun about the secrets husbands hide from their wives. Excellent character development with good performances by all, especially Vinay's wife, Ranvir, and Dilip.

Ross K (us) wrote: Not entirely fantastic but nowadays a horror movie that makes you jump at least once is worthy of just above the midway rating. Its worth watching but it combines alot of elements of Nightmare on Elm Street with other Horrors. It totally rips on Freddy Vs Jasons fear theory but despite its flaws its a nice addition to the horror genre. With the first one sucking so bad, I feared that any sequels would suck worse and I would eventually be dead from my boredom. The Second one was wicked it felt more like a beggining to great saga, this then felt like the weaker second half that was released as a cash cow. Maybe it was Tobin Bells voice over or the lack of any atmosphere that lead me to this but At least it had its moment of tension ( not exactly nerve shredding but tense none the less) and its ending left doubts that I would never have to watch anything like this again. I would recommend a watch if your a horror fan

Dimitri C (au) wrote: With perfect interpretations from both Judi Dench and Cate Blanchett and this strong and thrilling story, "notes on a scandal" easily deserves to be watch. It's the best erotic thriller of the 10 last years. But be warn, the movie is a little bit disturbing.

Kevin M W (kr) wrote: A lackluster antagonist creatively stifles this coulda-been-better effort as the crew from a space cargo transport discover something amiss in this cargo hold. They had the money to make it, you can see that in the costume and set design. And they had the talent, seen in the camera work, the acting, the edit, the choices made. Somehow though the threat in the piece never translates, the threat implied in the title, and the twist, when it comes, is equally unmoving, so it's a "meh".

Sarah R (kr) wrote: I rented this because it was about China, based in the area with mountains that I loved seeing in person and still dream about...and was totally caught off guard when the movie began. I'm glad that I didn't know it would be in Japanese; it was a wonderful surprise. All the translated cussing though, got to me after a while, but I really enjoyed the movie. My mom was so curious about all my laughing that she had to come down to finish it out with me. She normally doesn't like these movies, but really had a blast with it too.

Brett E (de) wrote: A 'TOWN' YOU SHOULD VISIT.:: A movie review by Brett Epstein :::: Ben Affleck has found his new calling - he is a fantastic director. The atmosphere, the mood, the pacing - it's all there.:: He's matured so much as an actor. He presents a fully developed character we can care about. It's an interesting performance that gets better as the film goes along. He deserves major recognition.:: Astounding supporting turns from Jon Hamm and Jeremy Renner - especially Renner. Here, he is so different than his Oscar-nominated portrayal from 'The Hurt Locker,' proving he's versatile. It is a harrowing, horrifying performance that truly gets under your skin.:: The same cannot be said for miscast Rebecca Hall. Hall is too quirky, too low-key for this role. She barely registers as a character, let alone someone Affleck would fall in love with. Her line readings are stiff and awkward. I loved her in 'Vicky Cristina Barcelona' but unfortunately this doesn't show her talent.:: From start to finish, you are enveloped into the world of this movie. It's fast-paced, it's fun and most importantly it's EXCITING. You sit there and you're excited and you're invested. With some of the bullshit that's been released lately, this is quite a feat.If you haven't seen it yet, get there and enjoy.

Tom J (us) wrote: Pleasant movie. Good cast. Comedic and dramatic tension between Cage and McLaine is marvelous.

Tim H (ag) wrote: Its really just Home Alone with the kid using a series of remote control toys to thwart the bad guys. Cute but easily forgettable.

Lucas A (br) wrote: Woody Allen overflows genius in "Broadway Danny Rose". An incredibly wise comedy, while at the same time philosophical and romantic, the story of the developing agent Danny Rose, who does everything and is dedicated to the maximum to their artists. Footless dancers, one-armed jugglers, ventriloquists stutterers, among others, Danny always tries to do everything, but he is confident in its most precious asset, singer Lou Canova, drunk and moody. Danny tries to do everything to achieve convincing lover Lou, Tina, to go to their show of nostalgia. The story may seem weak, but the film is really exciting, captivating and strong. Woody Allen offers the most both in script and in direction, acting brilliantly alongside Mia Farrow, Nick Forte to Appolo. "Broadway Danny Rose" is a show that never ends. Fantastic!

Gabriel D (nl) wrote: Liked it more than the first one tbh. I guess I felt more identified by the nice guy trying to be the bad boy story. Building his own motorcycle from scratch, keeping good grades and getting the hottest girl at the end ?? One of my favorites. Dont get me wrong tho, the first was good but this one rocked better to me. ( No hate and enjoy both of em. ;) )

v9y j (fr) wrote: Set in a town in "the center of France" in 1970s, it's classic Truffaut. Life as it is. If plot-less or point-less movies bother you, stay away (although there are sub-plots and subtle points made through out the film). It's a loosely connected collage of childhood, splattered with interesting and not-so-interesting moments of children's lives. It's an observation. And a great one at that. The opening sequence of children coming down the hill is a memorable one.

Patrick M (fr) wrote: If you were born in 1990's, you will have a hard time finding this film funny or relatable. Hoffman performance is what makes this film worth watching, especially his monologue towards the end of the film.

Jacob G (nl) wrote: Bleak and unforgiving. Part ghost-town images of abandoned concentration camps, part archival footage, all overset with the slow (and almost poetic) narration of Michel Bouquet. Vintage Resnais.

stefano l (kr) wrote: I really don't know what to say on Automata. It seems like a movie without heart. The meanings are good and original (showing the androids as a new race that wants to have its part ib the building of a new world but doesn't have the possibility for the second protocol theyare forced to obey to), but in the essence everything is empty of significance and lack of feelings.

Mel E (jp) wrote: The effects were pretty top notch, but there was almost no coherent story, and anywhere were story started to be told was just interrupted by more action. Also, the sound equalizing was way off in some of the dialogue scenes, and in a movie where there isn't much dialogue, it's kind of annoying. Action= A+, Story = C-
