(de) wrote: This disturbing documentary follows the case of Dilawar, an Afghani taxi driver, who is captured first by his countrymen and turned over to the United States military for interrogation. Dilawar would never leave alive. His death was declared a homicide on his death certificate. Dilawar was at the wrong place and wrong time during American paranoia and post September 11 world. Dilawar's death is investigated by journalists. Dilawar was beaten and tortured in humanely by American soldiers. First, this documentary is graphic with post Mortem pictures and pictures of naked detainees. The torture at Bangram and Abu Grahib is unforgivable. It does not end there but the detainees at Guantamano Bay have been isolated, sleep deprived, humiliated, and left to go mad or commit suicides as a result. The information from torture is often wrong, false, and unreliable. Water boarding is actually tame compared to the techniques used in this documentary. You must see it to believe it and understand. Torture is wrong on every level.

(nl) wrote: A curiosity, being one of those propaganda films made during WWII, and also for being part of the Powell/Pressburger canon. Sadly, though, after a promising start (the scenes in the plane are phenomenal) the whole thing seems to fall apart. OK, so it's very much a product of its time and intent, but the stereotypical Dutch characterization grates beyond belief, and the film never really reaches an emotional level, even though you know throughout the picture that some of the resistance fighters will end up being executed for helping 'our boys'. Of historical interest, but little more.

(ag) wrote: Admittedly not Ford's best, not even his best in 1939 but Drums Along the Mohawk is still one of the better movies about the American Revolution and it contains some of Ford's most beautiful compositions.

(mx) wrote: The fall of San Francisco into a liberal hell hole. Milk is a politically charged propaganda film that brands everyone gay for the sake of political correctness. Penn's performance for such an unlikable role was incredible but there's nothing else to really make this memorable. It was long and dreadful, definitely avoid.
