Mr. St. Nick

Kelsey Grammer stars as Nick St. Nicholas, a Miami-based playboy philanthropist who is about to make his life complete by wedding the girl of his dreams, gorgeous TV weathercaster Heidi Gardelle (Elaine Hendrix). Not known to the general public is that the profligate St. Nicholas is really the son of none other than Santa Claus (Charles Durning)--or, as the jolly old elf is known in this story, Nicholas XX. Expected to take over the "family business" at the North Pole before his father's power fades, Nick balks, choosing instead to remain in Miami, where he is about to launch his latest charity at the behest of his fiancee Heidi. By the time he realizes that his "dream girl" is actually a mercenary nightmare, Nick finds himself besieged by a vindictive INS agent (Colin Cunningham)--and racked with guilt over the gloomy fate awaiting his father and the North Pole toy factory.

Lewis L (au) wrote: Riveting drama between hero and villainRevealed a historical figure, Nordhling, that I did not know about previously

Marissa B (mx) wrote: This film showed reality of a friendship when two friends are in a co-dependent friendship. It showed wit and charm. It was able to let us see how a friendship so close-knit and true can unravel due to life path differences and journeys.

G c (au) wrote: Absolutely the worst film I believe I have ever seen. I did not thin you could mess up a disaster movie...I was wrong. The effects were terrible and the acting even worse. They actually drew in the rain and the next scene the ground was bone dry. Unbelievably terrible and I like B movies except this was not a movie...

Chase H (ag) wrote: ilove these guys but this just wasn't very funny at all, the funniest one was Jay out of all of them, and the stories of how they met at the end... Their movies are actually funny though, sorry guys

Josh S (au) wrote: Great movie for the whole family!

Alexis W (jp) wrote: It's funny but the animals just didn't seem real enough for me

Sean Y (fr) wrote: I love this movie. It is a beautiful story of forgiveness and sacrifice. It has blatant christian themes and teachings, so don't be upset when this movie tries to nudge you towards Christianity. Also, to the reviewers who gave it a negative rating because of this, really? If you are offended by it's teachings, don't watch it!

Kelly H (jp) wrote: I am among the few who admired Ms. Dunaway's performance. She claims it ruined her career, but it's hard to see why. She rings true for the most part, one diva quite convincingly playing another, but the movie is mostly about her home life, with little of her Hollywood stardom, which might have livened up the tale. The oddly under-populated scene where Joan visits her studio and Louie B. Mayer fires her is deadly dull, and pointless -- she asks him to escort her to her car so she can hold her head up high, which would have been the gracious thing for him to do, but he gives her the brush off for no reason that is explained. The main fault here is Diana Scarwind as Christina Crawford, giving an odd, spaced out performance. There is no "normal" person with whom we can identify. The movie is very slow and episodic, with a few famous scenes. I read "Mommie Dearest" in installments when it was first printed in "New York Magazine," and the story was never again so gripping. The movie seems to be presented in installments, too, but they are not so vivid as they were in the magazine, heightened and condensed. Christina Crawford's book was sharp and insightful, so why she is presented as a passive, mush-mouthed cypher is puzzling. This movie isn't as "campy" as people would like to think. But it is pretty dull.

Jordon J (br) wrote: A hopelessly unfunny and thoroughly tedious comedy that grows more and more tedious as it progresses and squanders the efforts of its talented cast. Very dissapointing since it's coming from the Director who made American Pie 2. I say SKIP IT!!!
