And then suddenly the director forgets about enclosed spaces and shoots as if he were in a studio (which is unfortunate as most of the movie takes place inside a truck cab). Once he abandoned the tangibility of these spaces, I was left with nothing but the abstract musings of some fairly uninteresting characters. Even the chick's intertitles follow suite, starting with immediate physical concerns and ending up with dimestore philosophy.
Tyler M (es) wrote: His victims are lucky they don't have to see this. It's pretty bad... Well, no I guess it's not that bad... Wait... No... It is that bad. The Story: It's the true story of John Wayne Gacy, an upstanding citizen, neighbor, father, husband... Oh, and he was a serial killer to... It's pretty much just the story of Gacy and how he sodomized young men and boys, killed them, and hid them in his crawl space... There's a little more to the story than that, but not enough to really interest too many people other than those interested in his story to begin with. At times the film takes on a fairly surreal look, while other times it manages to pull off a little bit of atmosphere and a little bit of style here and there, but over all it's a pretty jumbled mess. The Cast: Mark Holton... Mark Holton is John Wayne Gacy, the killer... He's the only redeeming part of this film as he's the only halfway decent actor here. But that's still not saying much. He does a good job, portraying Gacy in a strikingly realistic way that will send chills down your spine. A good performance, just not good enough to get anyone too involved. Everyone else in the film is pretty bad, it would appear that Mark Holton is the only one that actually put any thought into his role. One to Five Scale: 2 This film offers very little insight into the life and mind of Gacy, it could have been so much better and it had so much potential but it comes off as feeling as shallow as the graves of his victims. Kyle T (au) wrote: As a bit of a stage actor myself, I must say that this show perfectly portrays the madness of backstage, and the madness of on-stage screw-ups. I thought the film was brilliant this way, as a sort of collection of stories of stage-show madness, but since it had to be a cinematic piece, they had to tie in a sloppily put together ending that both I and the main character couldn't explain. Besides the ending though, this movie seemed extremely realistic with a hint of silliness, but that ending really ruined the movie for me.

Amanda C (br) wrote: There are no words to describe the adventure that is watching Daisies. Vera Chytilova's film is a film that manages to be confusing and difficult, while still being entertaining and accessible. Each scene in the film gets progressively weirder, never quite presenting anything concrete, and becoming steadily more confusing, but remaining entertaining nonetheless throughout.
