If any horror buff plans to see it, proceed with caution. Long story short, this movie is dumb and forgettable. Yes, I said it. Three: big 2008 theatrical release "Twilight" is arguably worse than any other bad movie around. Two: it has some redeeming quality in Englund. One: it was a low-budget release from the (original) Sci Fi Channel, which is reasonable. Yet, there's a couple reasons why this isn't a total blowout. The film, about a giant military-engineered snake (of course), features violence almost reminiscent of torture porn (detailed close-ups of acid-burned bodies are shown, some with their entrails exposed), questionable characters (Robert Englund and Casper Van Dien in particular), so-so snake effects (one minute it looks great, the next minute it's ugly), an issue with tone (the subject matter is treated with mainly straight face, with marginal dose of comic relief), and yep, you guessed it, a slow-paced script that's chock full of cheese. While its 8-minute opening (plane crash and lesbian campers), suggest a pure camp-fest, "Python" is more grind-house than camp

Great story/script which reflects the period and anguish of the characters rather well. Stunning performances from a very young Colin and Rupert

I think if this were made today (with the effects of today, of course) it might be better received. the world wasn't ready for this particular kind of weird yet. . . I think it was in some ways before its time. I don't think this movie deserves its infamy

. . It should be applauded for its brilliant images of a deserted London which are eerie (and certainly would have been difficult to organise) and would seem to have served as inspiration for similar scenes in '28 Days Later. What it really needed was a more downbeat ending. An agreeable and well constructed film which was no doubt relevant at the time, it moves along nicely until its final, predictable reel. A nuclear scientist steals an atomic weapon and threatens havoc on London unless the government agrees to cease nuclear programs
