Christopher G (ca) wrote: Mark Hogancamp was beaten by five guys at a bar near his home in New York and suffered traumatic brain damage. He had to relearn how to perform everyday tasks such as walking and talking, but eventually recovered. Aware of his social deficits, he turned to toy soldiers and dolls as an outlet. He constructed an elaborate town called Marwencol, filled with characters and buildings based on things in his real life. He also created elaborate stories for its denizens, including battles against the German SS. Mark is very meticulous and pays attention to every minute detail in his creation. His photographs of Marwencol caught the eye of an art magazine editor and his works have even been featured in their own gallery in New York. The film takes a nonjudgmental peak into his creative process and just observes and documents Mark creative process. It's certainly a unique way for his mind to cope with the personal trauma that he's suffered and shows how he's able to move forward with his life.

Also no computer generation of people in a scene if 200 people in the scene then 200 people on the set. The way films should be made old school; for sure. The stars of yesteryear Don Ameche ( the first foreign actor I saw as a kid). A very young and beautiful Betty Grable (I can see why she was a pinup doll for WWII Bombers), and Carmen Miranda made a number of appearances just singing (Think she was just starting to get exposure in the US. Bill B (ru) wrote: Being a pretty easy mark for Ryan Reynolds, I wasn't surprised to dig this, but I was pretty amused by how dark and gallows-humor-filled it is, with our lead playing a mundane (but slightly odd) everyman type at a bathtub factory, living alone with his dog and cat.Little does anyone suspect that when that mild mannered guy is alone, he's sitting around visiting with his talking cat and dog, who seem to be in a war to encourage or discourage him from taking out his frustrations on the world, and when the pretty gals from work start to see his oddball side, holy shit, things go sideways.Worth a rental.
