Mutiny on the Bounty

The Bounty leaves Portsmouth in 1787. Its destination: to sail to Tahiti and load bread-fruit. Captain Bligh will do anything to get there as fast as possible, using any means to keep up a strict discipline. When they arrive at Tahiti, it is like a paradise for the crew, something completely different than the living hell aboard the ship. It's fun if just to see what it would be like to have a perfect memory and no social neuroses from the perspective of someone experiencing those things for the first time. And it has other good qualities (brisk pacing, visual inventiveness, it's unpredictable) so I was entertained.

Will D (gb) wrote: Looks very dated. It deals with the topic of abortion in the US adequately, making points that need to be made, but the middle story is so dull. As good as it might have been at the time, the film has been superceded by better, more effective films about abortion, such as Vera Drake, and the brilliant documentary Lake Of Fire.

Jason J (it) wrote: Loner nerdy teenager Ronald Wilby accidentally kills a young girl when she insults his mother. His protective mother decides to hide him inside a secret room in the walls of the house in order for things to quieten down with the police. However his mother dies with Ronald still inside the house. A new family moves in with Ronald only venturing out when the house is empty to steal food. He's also drilled peepholes in various walls so that he can spy on the family members as he has an obsession with the youngest daughter. How much longer can Ronald hide out in his secret place until somebody finds him.A great made-for-TV movie. The character Ronald Wilby is so creepy and a weirdo. It might make you think again about living in an old house - you never know what's inside their walls!! It capitalises on the idea of creepy old houses being haunted - only this time the house at the centre of the story is not inhabited by ghosts but rather by the psychopathic son of the previous owner. It's a shame that the climax was rushed - things come to a head too quickly. Sure this movie looks cheap and the acting isn't that good but this has been labelled as a cult gem by some people. Despite its shortcomings, Bad Ronald is worth taking a look.
