Dane P (br) wrote: Disappointing. Aside from some very awesome puppets/special effects. The film is just so dull with our main character giving one of the most bored performances ever. Seriously terrible! It doesn't want to engage you it doesn't care one bit. The weirdness comes off as stupid as the main character just stares at it blankly and mumbles inaudible dialogue in the poor lighting.Seriously the main character is perhaps the least interesting protagonist in a movie EVER (on par with Birdemic) seriously it ruined the movie! It absolutely destroyed a lot of potential! If the main character isn't invested why should we! I don't care about the hidden meanings if he doesn't! He litterly kills his wife by accident TWICE and doesn't phase a expression. I don't care if that everything was intentional it just makes it so dull!
Morgan W (br) wrote: Rather strange movie that dragged on quite a lot. We had to look it up on Wikipedia just to figure out what it meant! :-P It was fun for a holiday afternoon with Hubs, though :-)

The prisoner is kidnapped, but not before putting a bounty on Brannigan`s(Wayne) head. Decent film, but the duke`s strongest suit is Western`s.
Rob S (us) wrote: On first viewing I was a little disappointed with the ending because I asked myself "that's it?" On second viewing I was astounded by the power the ending showed that I was unable to experience on my first viewing - this makes sense, I think I was 16 when I saw this film for the first time. What's great about this movie is even aspects I wouldn't normally find to be good were done very well. Apparently the voice you hear of the leading man, the "man without a label" as the screenwriter calls him, is actually dubbed by a different actor. I could not distinguish this idea at all during my viewing, so it didn't break the illusion of the movie. The movie may only capture the events a tight time-span (two days or less), but it does it marvelously. I'll admit there is not too much going on after the man's bike is stolen and he and his son walk around Rome trying to find it, but there is a wonderful scene that depicts the class struggle where the man and his son eat at a restaurant and the man explains the importance of the bike. The boy sees a wealthier kid enjoying the luxury of melted cheese on his sandwich whereas the two characters at the center of the story have to have basic sandwiches due to their shortcomings. It is a simple, yet powerful scene. This film deals with harsh realities as the dad is unable to ever retrieve his bike - the boy who stole it probably having sold the parts before he could get to it. It is also such a powerful and shocking ending with what the protagonist decides to do, and with the kid holding his father's hand at the conclusion of the film, it is an action that shows they are now equals. They seem to be doomed to live in poverty, and the man has shown what it truly takes to survive in this dog eat dog world.
