(us) wrote: The cover seems to indicate this will be hippiesploitation, but in matter of fact it's about the failure of the hippies, both in trying to find their "freedom" and in consuming the actual bad drugs like say, heroin, and, heroin. The actors aren't that great even as they try (I'd much rather have seen Kinski play the German, but we can all dream can't we); by far the best aspects are Nestor Almendros's cinematography and the very good (though not great) Floyd soundtrack.
(it) wrote: I'm fairly tolerant of junk, but I hate this film. Spending time watching this is like being trapped with an ADD addled teenage boy who can never complete a thought before moving onto the next one. Bay has no concept of how to cut a movie in a fashion that allows the viewer's brain to process transitions between unrelated scenes ... or at least he doesn't care about constructing his movie in a coherent fashion. There's a point in this film where Willis has to go round up his crew of guys to tell them about the whole asteroid drilling thing. Although no more than a couple of days could have passed since he left them on his oil rig, they are now all around the world doing different things (Ben Affleck has apparently started up his own company 2 days after being fired.) The sequence that shows them all living their own version of the high life between jobs is an extended nightmare summoned from the dumb-ass delusions of an adolescent boy's idea of how the world works. That a 30 year old man committed this to film is ... astonishing.

(de) wrote: This action/comedic gem is about joe and terry who are notorious bank robbers that break out of prison and are on the run and out of money. They come up with a plan to put the bank managers on house arrest the night before they rob it and they soon become the notorious "sleepover bandits". They also run into an eccentric housewife named Kate who soon joins them after she thinks she is neglected by her husband. She can't decide which bandit she wants to be with and it puts their friendship in jeopardy. This movie is very funny. Both Bruce Willis and billy bob Thornton are hilarious and keep you amused and entertained through the whole movie. I agree with the New York post that it has great chemistry that between Willis and Thornton. Great one liners and brilliant direction from Barry levinson. This is a must see and a very fun and humorous movie with some decent action. Kudos to Barry levinson on this great movie.
