Koeman L (au) wrote: Better than expected. I didn't catch the Hollywood version 'Cellular' which could be a blessing in disguise cos' i really wasn't expecting much from this film. The whole movie turned out to be an intense roller-coaster ride right from the beginning. There isn't any part that is boring throughout the film, which explains why it's such an enjoyable watch. I have to say tho' that the plot is a little ridiculous as i don't think anyone waould be so kind-hearted to go all the way out to help a stranger who happens to call you out of the blue. But hey, i let the film makers get away with this cos' i completely enjoyed the movie!

And Sweet Sixteen is about as far removed from Bambi as you can get. Just about every sentence contains either the 'f' word or the 'c' word, which I don't really like at all, but of course the language was necessary in such a bleak setting. I think the boys will love this a lot more than girls, but it is another good drama from Ken Loach, who also directed Kes and My Name is Joe, which I have also seen and enjoyed.

It helps that the film was originally made for Clint Eastwood and that it's make by much of the same team that would later make "The Fugitive" and "Under Siege". Chuck is still a terrible actor, but he's surrounded by some solid character actors including Henry Silva and Dennis Farina in his second film role. I also liked the very 80s action film score by David Michael Frank. Not brilliant, but good by Norris standards.

Allie W (nl) wrote: An original sci-fi twist integrated into a crime drama, this film actually sounded as interesting as it was. Which was quite. One of those films that is intriguing to view, although the ending was BEYOND predictable.

Valeria P (ca) wrote: Three interconnected stories about adoptions, from the points of view of the child being given up, the parent trying to adopt, and the parent who gives up her child. The actors are wonderful. It is nice to see Samuel L Jackson away from boisterous action movie parts.

Tim M (de) wrote: 'The Boxtrolls' takes a while to get to where it needs, is a bit too preachy, but still has enough in the closing act to stay with it. If you can make it through the first half which is a chore you're in store for a fun finish. No Box Trolls were harmed in the making of this movie.

Derek B (ag) wrote: Oh dear. The reviews by fellow flixsterers seem to indicate high levels of bullshit acceptance. Yes, I know, Donald Cammell was a great misunderstood genius blah blah blah and he committed suicide so must be respected at all costs blah blah... it's incoherent, self-indulgent, rambling... but at least it's not as bad as Wild Side.
