The acting was solid, the movie was always entertaining and while being sometimes far-fetched, it found ways, in it's core, to be somewhat believable. In the end, this was no on the History Channel special, so just sit back and give yourself some pleasure (wink wink!)
Graham P (it) wrote: In parts wildly inventive, surreal, funny and violent whilst also suffering from moments of extreme directorial self-indulgence that occasionally test the viewer's patience; Takeshi Kitano's 2005 feature Takeshis' takes us on a confusing and surreal ride through it's director's rather unique mindscape. As a fan of many of Kitano's previous films - many of which are referenced or parodied in this - I found Takeshis' to be a disappointingly mixed bag that fundamentally felt like a vanity project for the director (who it is basically about).Having said this, it is quite unique in it's particular blend of oddness and it can't be denied that the film makes a strong impression; being as it is a calculated assault on the senses (which features more bullets being fired in it than any film I can recall in recent memory and moments of nipple tweaking). If you watch it without trying to figure out the meaning behind it - which is probably impossible for anyone who isn't Kitano to do anyway - then there is enjoyment to be had.But don't bother trying to make any sense of it.

Tyrone H (es) wrote: Bit of a hidden jem. Probably the best performance by Charlton Heston and great support from a strong cast including Bruce Dern and a wonderfully demented Donald Pleasence. Also is the introduction of Lee Majors in his pre bionic days. A real must for the western fan.
