was rather surprised by how much I enjoyed this, actually, and am pleased to report that it didn't leave me wishing "Die, Movie, Die!". But that's almost to be expected from a 1965 sci-fi/horror film. It all comes together in the last twenty minutes or so and also starts to lay on the cheesy-ness pretty heavily. The shadow that's lurking around every corner is eerie as are those screeches that no one can quite figure out. I was not familiar with Nick Adams before this film but I liked him a lot in it and, of course, Boris Karloff is a classic. It keeps you guessing as to what's really going on and why everyone is acting so strangely. I actually thought the first hour of this was pretty spooky with that giant mansion in the middle of nowhere and it's very mysterious residents

It's not funny, feels long, has slow pacing, and I hate the ending, but Teresa Palmer and Nicholas Hoult give great performances

Vampire tale that differs slightly from Twilight, True Blood and the kin. Bloody sexy and mostly improvised story of the hunt for virgin blood with plenty of forbidden scenes. Iz not eazy to be ze Dracvla vho requires virgin blood to survive

One of my favourites. It has all that I seek in films: ordinary heros, true love, scenery, yet it is the farthest from a Hollywood romance. This movie is perfect

Its a Fairy Tale but its not and thought its wonderfully directed, I wish it had stayed as creative as it started thru out the film. Theres music and charm to this movie that make it unforgettable

Judge it for yourself. I'd have to write a novel to do this film justice, so just watch the damn thing. Melville's last black and white film is wonderful, a heist film, pushing the boundaries of such heist plots, moving onto the grounds of human instinct and their willingness to believe and trust others. I'm a sucker for Melville, and Le Deuxieme Souffle (1966) is no different

Cinematography left much to be desired as well. I can't blame the actors as given the poor script, it appears they gave a valiant effort and were somewhat believable in their roles. Insufficient plot development and insanely bad writing. One of the worst films I've ever seen

A pretty suspenseful thriller involving witchcraft

But, for better or for worse, everything is designed and it is good to stop and ponder those designs every now-and-then. All around us are things we take for granted

Nothing really can get better, if one is looking for cinematic disaster
