Stephen Z (us) wrote: With the first "Sherlock Holmes" film, I had the complaint that the simple, classic character was turned into a bloated blockbuster by throwing in lots of action and science fiction. With "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows", the scale and the bloated nature are increased by making this action-driven Holmes into a franchise. And while this film decreases the amount of unbelievable action, it also increases the silliness. These essentially offset, and the result is that "A Game of Shadows" is neither better nor worse than the original film.In fact, it is basically the same film. Robert Downey, Jr. gives the same stellar performance. He makes the best of yet another sloppily-written plot and yet another bland adventure.I always enjoy Robert Downey, Jr. and the charisma he brings to his films. But RDJ can only do so much for a film. "A Game of Shadows" is a prime example of this. Without Downey's performance, this film would be a disaster. With it, "A Game of Shadows" still has too many problems to call it a good film.

Tim M (ca) wrote: The effects in the last act need some work, but the rest of the movie is pretty good. Beautiful landscapes, great sets, and detailed costumes bring the tale to life. Could have been shorter, but not bad.
Generoso F (fr) wrote: An essential documentary for film fanatics giving insight into the origins of what we now know as the "director's cut". It reacquainted me with films I hadn't thought about in years such as Verhoven's "Turkish Delight" or Stone's "Salvador"...A amazingly engrossing and eventually tragic doc about obsession, triumph and collapse.

Ashley H (it) wrote: It Runs in the Family is a funny film. It is about the story of a dysfunctional New York family, and their attempts to reconcile. Kirk Douglas and Michael Douglas give incredible performances. The script is well written. Fred Schepisi did a great job directing this movie. I enjoyed watching this motion picture because of the humor and romance. It Runs in the Family is a must see.

Benjamin W (gb) wrote: A dizzying amount of activity, "Playtime" is impressive on many levels, including its sets and the number of unique extras. While not a traditional storyline by any means, this film is really more about people watching as much as it is a satire on modern industrialist design (the latter of which is sterile and borderline absurd).
David L (nl) wrote: Gentlemen Prefer Blondes isn't particularly sophisticated, but it is such a fun and funny film that feels so modern owing to its awesome mix of strong sexuality, weird and over-the-top humor and an infectious energy. Marilyn Monroe is so good here, but Jane Russell is even better and the two are such a great duo. The film is such a good comedy, but also a great musical as it is filled with many catchy songs and so well choreographed musical numbers. It's unabashedly light and fluffy, but fun and charming nonetheless.
